“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed July 10, 2009

To begin with, we arrived from East Hastings. As we got closer and closer to the address the neighborhood became worse and worse and we thought we would have to stay somewhere else. Then low and behold a couple of blocks before the Delta suites the neighborhood suddenly, instantly became much, much better. We were still a bit shaky as we pulled in and were unsure if we would actually stay there but the hotel staff immediately put us at ease beginning with Jerrod our valet then the charming young woman at the front who checked us in. When we expressed our doubts we were told that we could safely walk on down to Gas town (that was fun!) but NOT to walk more than 4 blocks east of the hotel. Despite our earlier fears we had fun walking to and around gastown from the hotel. Sure there are a few panhandlers around but not real pushy ones and the waiters at the SteamWorks kept on top of chasing the one away who kept talking to the diners sitting outside.
The suite was wonderful, the beds heavenly, we had free internet and complimentary water bottles resupplied daily! The only downside for my 21 year old son was that the sofa bed was not comfortable. I know sofa beds aren't know for comfort but in recent years they have really improved and I have slept on some that were quite comfortable!
All in all, we would definetly stay here again and would certaily recommend to friends with the warning not to be discouraged if they drive in through China town on Hastings East of the hotel.
Oh on a final note, the restaurant on site is VERY expensive with small portions. If you don't mind super casual dining, there is a food court downstairs of the tower across the street where we ate breakfast every morning once we found it!

Downtown Vancouver has a wide selection of quality offering accross major hotel chains and some "boutique" hotels. The Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel offers above average amenities, a nice all-suite environment and usually, very good value. The only small negative of this hotel is its location which is closer to the "East Downtown" area than most other "major" hotels (Although some would argue it has a perfect location next to the B-Line bus lines to/from the Airport, Harbourfront Centre, Canada Place and the city's main transportation hub).

The rooms themselves are quite nice with a relatively good size and feature a separate living and sleeping area. The bed is quite comfortable and the washroom is also of a decent size. Some of the rooms on higher floors have decent views but with all the tall buildings in this area, it is hard to have an unobstructed view.

Although I did not use the gym during my recent stay, the hotel featured a gym with an adequate array of aerobic and weight equipment. The only drawback was to get to the fitness facility which is located in an adjacent building (do not have to go outside).

As with most other Delta Hotels, this location features a Signature Club Lounge located on the 21st floor. A nice feature of the lounge is the balcony area with a few chairs and table providing a good view (but not necessarily picture perfect) of Vancouver. The food offering (for breakfast) is quite standard with juices, fruits, pastries, cold cuts, cereals and hard boiled eggs.

Like some other Delta location in BC, the restaurant does not feature a traditional full hot buffet for breakfast (It does have a generous continental breakfast area though). Members of the Delta Privilege program who are entitled to free breakfast are usually entitled to what is called the "American Breakfast" (Eggs, side of meat, potatoes, toasts) or something of equivalent value.

There are few nicer, more luxurious hotel in Downtown Vancouver but this hotel is a good choice for both the business and leisure traveller seeking comfort, above average amenities and value

We stayed in the hotel for 3 days and were very pleased about the size of the room.
The location is perfect if you want to stroll around downtown.
The only negative thing is that you have to pay extra if you want to use WIFI internet in the room.

Did not do much (any) research on Vancouver and we ended up here as friends had already booked. A really nice hotel, all the staff we dealt with were helpful and friendly. Not much in the way of facilities but the gym looked decent. Our room was fab - separate bedroom, nice little living area with armchairs. We were offered an 'upgrade to a room with sofa instead of armchairs for $20 p.n. but we declined. If you head NW from the hotel to the waterfront it's amazing. If you head SE along Hastings St (to Chinatown) you clearly have not done your research. Truly depressing scenes of poverty and degradation to say nothing of the potential for danger. We quickly and nervously flagged a cab as soon as we realised our mistake. We arrived in an SUV with a roofbox so we were too big for the car-park. We had to go with valet parking for a very steep $30 per night (self-park was $27) and they basically parked it at the end of the alley beside the hotel. Not really secure and it came back covered in pigeon poop. To his credit the bell-boy I mentioned it to made a reasonable attempt to clean it up.

I would probably stay again. Good location for waterfront, Stanley Park and Robson St. Just don't bring a car and dont walk to Chinatown via Hastings St.

I tagged along on my fiancee's business trip here and although the room was already paid for, I would pay out of my own pocket to stay here again.
The reception staff and concierge were both helpful and friendly.
The room was great, a corner suite with the room split into two sub-rooms with a sliding frosted-glass divide between the bedroom and lounge. The king bed was a dream and could have slept forever in there but Vancouver is worth seeing ;-)
The breakfast was ok, but a little pricey for what you got. There's much better deals on the harbour-front, most notably the Sunday brunch at The Lift - a little pretentious but great food.
It's located 2 blocks from the Steamworks Pub which has great views of the water-front and North Vancouver. It's a very picturesque 20minute walk along the harbour-side, past Canada Place and over to Stanley Park. There's a bike rental place where the sea-planes take off from (WestCoast) and it's about $6 per hour or $30 for 24hours, very reasonable & would recommend for cycling around Stanley Park.

We loved this hotel. We stayed here for 2 nights with our 7 and 9 year olds. The reception desk staff were great and even provided the kids with a kids' pack with a couple of games - much appreciated. They loved the cookies. Our room was very spacious, quiet, comfy and clean. The location was great and near the ferry terminal and buses. We caught public transport everywhere - even to/from the airport - and it was so easy with a day pass each. This really added to the value of our stay. We loved Vancouver and this hotel was icing on the cake.
