This is a typical Residence Inn. the room was nice, and the bed very comfortable. There is a $19 a day charge for parking, which may be typical for Vancouver. When we went for the "Italian night dinner" there wasn't any food. It was 6:30. More was "on the way," but never arrived. You couldn't get a cup of regular or decalf coffee, because that's only served with breakfast. Hmmm.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay. I'm very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the accommodations. Our weekly Guest Receptions occur every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30-7pm and we serve appetizers and soft drinks in a relaxed atmosphere that allows our guests and hotel teams to mingle and network. I do apologize for the experience you had, and we are addressing it to ensure it does not get repeated. There is all day complimentary coffee available in the Gatehouse and Cavino now serves Starbucks decaf.
Kind Regards, Suzanne Allemeier, General Manager

Booked a last minute room overnight to get a friend to her train early the next morning. I had stayed at the property about 6 years ago and knew the area and trusted the quality.

Well I was very surprised to find that the property had been completely renovated and had only been open 3 weeks. As others have said, there were some growing pains, but yes, it was a lovely experience and I would go back anytime. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the small kitchen is both functional and very attractive.

Our family of 4 with 2 teenagers really enjoyed our stay here shortly after its reopening. Everything is new and clean, and our teenage girls really appreciated the Paul Mitchell hair supplies.

The hotel is experiencing a couple of growing pains. The pool, which just opened up, is lovely, but every morning we had to call the front desk to ask for towels which never seemed to be in stock. Also, the whirlpool was not yet open.

On the other hand, the managerial staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We needed to send a signed form to school by a certain date, and the manager volunteered to scan and send it via e-mail for us. Thanks very much!

For future visitors: The hotel is in a fantastic location. Davie St., on the next block, has a wealth of interesting, authentic, and inexpensive ethnic restaurants. Also, the front desk staff pointed us to a bicycle rental shop that was about 2 blocks away (Pacific St. between Burrard and Hornby Sts.), and we used these bicycles on 2 days for a self-guided tour of Vancouver. We never needed to use public transportation.

The breakfast was very good but ran out of numerous items 15-30 minutes before closing time.

Thank you for your kind words. I am pleased to hear our team went above and beyond in their service to you. The pool towels are now replenished several times a day - it's a very busy place! - and we are improving our breakfast service as well. I love that your daughter's loved the Paul Mitchell - I do too!

My husband, 6-year-old daughter and myself recently stayed at this hotel for five nights. We were on a quick family vacation, but my husband did have a bit of work to do while we were there.

Overall, we had a good experience at the hotel. We did have a few minor issues, but I believe that they were due to the recent “re-opening” of the hotel. It was another hotel until recently and renovated to become a Residence Inn.

We arrived early on a non-stop flight and decided to take the skytrain in to downtown. Anticipating that we would be using transit a bit while there, we went to the 7-11 in the domestic terminal (about 5 minutes away) and bought some transit tickets. The advantage to this is that you don’t have to the pay the $5 surchage for leaving the airport (you have to pay this if you go to the platform to buy a ticket). The ride into town was quick and the train was clean. We had instructions on how to transfer to a bus to get very close to the hotel, but we decided to walk the 6 blocks or so. We enjoyed the walk and it gave us a better idea of what was in the neighborhood. Location was really great – right in the middle of everything. A tip for those with small children – there is a nice park just a few blocks from the hotel at Davie and Seymoure.

Upon arrival at the hotel, they were able to check us in early, which is always nice. We were placed in room 906, which was at the end of the hall away from the elevators so it was nice and quiet. The room was nice and large – comfy bed, nicely stocked kitchenette, nice desk with lots of outlets, sofabed, nice bathroom. Everything was very clean and new. However we did find a few pieces of blue tape on items, which was an indication that they were still finishing up punch list items from construction / redecorating.

Other amenities in the hotel are nice. Lobby area is attractive and had three computers with free Internet / printing access so we were able to print boarding passes. Unfortunately, the indoor pool was closed for repairs. The exercise room was decent enough and there was a nice outdoor patio. The free breakfast is always a plus with a kid. Had a nice variety of items similar to other Residence Inns we have stayed in – eggs, sausage or bacon, toast & bagels, cereals, fruit, yogurt, French toast, pancakes, coffee, juice and of course, the obligatory waffle maker.

We encountered a few service issues, but I feel that all were dealt with in an appropriate manner. Staff was generally very friendly in this regard. I do think they were “growing pains” since they had just reopened. Here’s some examples…
* The first day and a half we were there, the wifi didn’t work properly. We would get kicked off every couple of minutes or you couldn’t get on at all. This would not have been such a big deal, but my husband had a conference call / webinar and needed internet access. So unfortunately, he had to contact his office and switch to an international plan, which did cost some money. We contacted them and they said they knew it was a problem. It was fixed the next day
* We got a glass at Granville Brewery so that my husband would have a nice frosty mug from which to drink his beer, that we had at the hotel. One night we returned from sightseeing and we couldn’t find it anywhere – wasn’t in the dishwasher, wasn’t in the cabinets, etc. We spoke to the desk and they said that housekeeping probably just picked it up on accident thinking it was one of the glasses from the bar downstairs. Unfortunately, we never got the glass back.
* On one day, we didn’t get a wake up call as requested. We just made sure to use the alarm clock as a back the next day!
* The way the furniture in the room was initially set up there was no way that the sofa bed could be used as a bed. We asked that some come and help with it and the never did so we ended up moving furniture, etc. We talked to the desk after that and they said they would send someone every night to make up the bed. Unfortunately that didn’t happen every night – only a couple of nights.

I would definitely try this hotel again. The positives far outweighed the negatives and I’m sure they will be in tip top service shape soon enough.

Thank you for your patience and understanding about the wifi and pool. We have already addressed both these issues in the hotel, and both are working well. I will work with our housekeeping team to find your mug, and ensure better follow up on the sofabed. Please feel free to contact me directly on your next trip to Vancouver so that I can assist with your arrangements personally.

Recently stayed for a weekend here. Recently remodelled property had very convenient location for walking and transit. Walk in any direction to find dining, convenience foods, cafes and shops. The hotel was tastefully decorated with modern upscale finishes. Lobby and breakfast areas were large and bright. Nice outdoor patio and indoor pool and exercise room were adequate. The studio room was very nicely appointed with large HD TV, iPod dock clock radio, and comfortable bedding. Surprised to find a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Robes, iron and ceramic hair dryer were provided. Towels and bath products very good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this property and will likely return in the near future.

We just spent two nights at the hotel, which has just reopened following what seems to be a comprehensive renovation. The location is great, breakfast is solid, and rooms are well-appointed. The staff is attentive and courteous. There were a few hiccups, perhaps related to the reopening, such as a TV that, while new, wasn't working properly, and being told by the front desk that the swimming pool was not yet open when in fact it was. But overall, I was impressed and would recommend the hotel. It worked well for me, my wife and our two young children. The kids enjoyed the pool and our walks down to English Bay.

It's great to hear your kids enjoyed the pool - it "opened" while you were here and with the great weather we've been having in Vancouver this summer, the pool, patios and fitness sun deck have been much appreciated. Thank you for your patience and understanding about the TV. We love having 42" HD flatscreens in all the suites. Hope to see you again next time you're in Vancouver.

Wow! They took an already very good property, closed it for 10-12 months for a total renovation, and now have an wonderful "new" hotel. Everything is new from stainless steel appliances to wall coverings. Very large rooms compared to standard rooms in nearby hotels such as the Sheraton Wall Centre. Bathrooms feature large shower areas and all new fixtures. Double glazing windows shut out city noise. Breakfast is included, and it is a full hot meal with lots of fresh fruit. 10 minute walk to the seawall walk way, and in the other direction, 10 minutes walk to the heart of Vancouover's shopping district. Very highly recommended!

Room Tip: Spent a few extra dollars and upgrade to a "skyline" room with a huge outdoor balcony.
