“Stayed at YWCA July 2014”

The one-bed-room is really nice. Staff was very helpful with everything and very flexible when I had to change the date I was checking out and in again. Everything could be worked out, very nice attitude :)

There is no breakfast, which is the biggest minus. Also you need a key to get to the bathroom, which is a bit frustrating when you get up to pee at 3am and try to fit the key in the lock :D Also you need to get the pots and pans from the reception to cook, I've never had to do that anywhere. Not a big problem, just something totally new for me!

Overall nice experience, great location, would recommend!

The YWCA was exactly what I was looking for...no frills place to lay my head at night that wasn't too pricey but still comfortable, clean and quiet. Very welcoming and helpful throughout. My bed was great with a good pillow and nice linen/quilt. Mattress very comfortable. Having read other reviews, on booking I requested a higher floor, and was given a room at the front on the 10th floor. This was perfect and I hardly saw or heard another soul the whole time, even though the kitchen was opposite my door. The room was clean and had everything I needed incl a bar fridge and basin. Towels and cups were refreshed every day also. The free wifi was also invaluable in planning my days. It was a short walk to the main shopping street and also down to the water where you can catch a ferry to anywhere. Cabs were always lined up just out the front and there was conveniently a Starbucks, 7/11 and supermarket within 100m away. I will definitely stay here my next visit to Vancouver.

Good budget priced hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, clean, all amenities you would need, even luggage scales ! Never had to wait to use the bathroom which was always clean and well kept. In a good spot. Definitely would stay again.

This is a fantastic hotel. Reasonable priced, great location, clean rooms, clean washrooms, feels safe, very helpful staff, free wifi, free kitchen sets, great kitchen, great lounge... I could not recommend this hotel more! It feels like it is set up to work with your needs NOT the hotels needs... So good.

Room Tip: If you're on a budget, the shared washrooms are good.

Our school takes overnight trips to the Mainland quite often (we are from the Island) and can always trust the YWCA to be courteous, understanding of our numerous room requests (sometimes on short notice), and have always given us a great experience.

Our Pathfinder group (girls 12-14 in Girl Guides of Canada or similar to Girl Scouts in other countries) had a 1 night event in Feb 2014. The girls were in 2 quint rooms and the leaders in triple. This was our third year in a row for a 1-night sleep-over event at the Y hotel. The girls love the facility ! It has a great kitchen to prepare our meals, comfy lounge, tv/dvd to watch a movie, friendly staff who provided cooking equipment for us to use. The location is great, as it is close to transit and in the downtown core. The girls felt safe, the rooms were clean and they're already looking forward to returning in 2015. Some of the girls were able to swim at the Y pool a few blocks away which was a highlight for them.

We arrived at 0100, due to a train delay, but were warmly welcomed. The room was basic, but had everything we needed (we had en-suite - good shower), including coathangers, towels and toiletries, which I hadn't expected for the price. And things we didn't use - iron, TV. It was clean, and simply but pleasantly decorated. Beds were comfortable - cotton linen and duvets - and room was serviced each day. No kettle, but there are ample shared kitchen facilities on the floors. Staff on reception were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Location is brilliant, really central and handy for bus stops and Sky train, and not far from Amtrak station (taxi at 1.00 am cost us less than $20). Very close to Robson St for main shopping area. Would definitely use it again. Highly recommended.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review! I'm glad that you enjoyed staying at our hotel. Did you know that the YWCA began in Great Britain in 1858? This was the vision of two women. Later the YWCA philosophy and movement became international and in 1894, the YWCA's of Great Britain, USA, Norway and Sweden founded the World YWCA. Today the YWCA Hotel in Vancouver is a Social Enterprise of YWCA Metro Vancouver. Guests such as yourself help to spread the word and we appreciate it very much!
