“Bargain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Stayed here with sister. We each had a single room and shared a bathroom. Overall was a bargain for what we got and was a great location and easy for everything. Special comment however about Pat on the front desk. She was super friendly on arrival, really helpful on suggestions of where to go and just was a great welcoming receptionist. I've stayed in leading hotels of the world and had terrible welcomes by snooty arrogant staff. They should come to YWCA and see how Pat treats her guests. Well done!!

Hi! Thanks for all your excellent comments on the YWCA Hotel! I'm glad that you and your sister had a great stay. We believe our staff is the friendliest in the city, and your comments echo that by letting us know how helpful you found Pat on your arrival. If you come to Vancouver again we look forward to welcoming you both back. Again, thank you for taking the time to write your review - it was very gratifying to read! Happy Travels!

This place is a great find in downtown Vancouver. We paid about $90 for a room for 2 and $150 for a room for 5. If you compare it to the other hotels in the area, that is a deal! It is less than a $10 cab ride to the Canada Place Cruise Terminal. it is about 5 short, downhill blocks from the train stop from the airport. The desk personnel are friendly and helpful. The security is great. And it is convenient to inexpensive food and shopping for snacks and necessities. The rooms were small but geez we weren't moving in. The room for 5 was pretty large. The shared bath was done well with automatic locking system.

This is a great place to stay in Vancouver if you are after value for money and easy access to transport and the attractions.
The front staff are very helpful and it feels like a home away from home.
Cooking and washing facilities on several floors if you need them and they cater for all a single traveller needs.
Only thing missing is a kettle in very room to make a much needed cuppa in private without having to carry hot liquids up and down lifts or stairs to your room in your pyjamas :(

Room Tip: A room with a private bathroom on a high floor away from traffic noise is recommended.

we booked a night after a long flight from brisbane via L.A. and found the hotel easily from the monorail stop. the hotel is in a great location. The front staff were really helpful with directions and any assistance we needed. We had a double room and it was very good value, clean, tidy and well maintained. we then came back for two more nights after visiting friends in another city, It was good to have a laundry, so handy to the room. Would recommend this hotel anytime. Thank you

The YWCA is a very good budget priced hostel with excellent facilities an d helpful staff. For those who want to self cater the kit kens are well equipped and pleasant to sit and eat. The central location makes this an ideal place to start a Canada holiday.

Room Tip: If you want to self cater ask for a room on the same floor as one of the kitchens (there are three k...

The only items we feel regret are 1) no big restaurant and 2) self-laundry.

I believe that we can overcome 1) by using the Italian restaurant inside of the neighbouring Georgian Court Hotel. For 2), if you are too busy business executives and no time to wash by yourself, you may want to stay at other hotels around here. However, there are several issues like indoor smoking for another neighbouring hotel. See the reports for the neighbours.

Except these two issues, I am sure that this is the best place to sleep and use Internet with Wi-Fi among all of the hotels as far as I know in Vancouver, BC.
