“Nice place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

It was very plesant to stay at this hotel. Close to the highway and easy access. Staff was very nice and helpful. I liked the secure underground parking. Made me feel safe since I was traveling alone.
Will stay here again when I am out on the west coast.

I stay at Holiday Inn Express Hotels generally speaking and this one was at least as good if not better than most I've been to in North America. The service was good from checkin on through. Friendly - the clerk explained to me how to get to the hockey game (the reason why I was in Vancouver was to see the Canuck's game) and the room was clean (as usual with Holiday Inn Express). The room was quite a bit larger than most, telling me this was a retro-fitted not a purpose built Express. Breakfast was the usual, pancakes, cinnamon buns, eggs etc. The Great room was a little tight (let's call it intimate), but again service was good and everything clean.
The only downside of the hotel was the location. I am not that familiar with Vancouver so thought that East Hastings was near downtown, which it definitely isn't. It's near the more destitute part of Vancouver to be honest. If you didn't have a vehicle, this location might not be a great option, although they do have a shuttle and I didn't check out where it goes as I had a rental. I prefer a closer stay to the airport or downtown, but this is a good option if you like Holiday Inn Express and have your own wheels.

Stayed here for 3 nights prior to our Alaskan Cruise. Great price; free parking and free shuttle to cruise terminal were a real bonus. Easy to find on Hastings and easy to cross over to N Vancouver on the nearby bridge or to get to Chinatown. No negatives about the hotel-but Vancouver could do well to clean up the homeless/drug dealing area toward downtown-the only blemish on a beautiful city.
Front desk staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms were spotless and breakfast was a nice surprise. Would recommend hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Higher rooms to the back are very quiet and have great views.

We stayed five nights and found the the location handy for getting around. The hotel is two lights down from rte.1 which takes you to Capilano Bridge in about 15 minutes. A straight shot down E. Hastings street to the downtown area. My only disappointment was the breakfast area closed early and you had no way of accessing 24 hour coffee which has been available in other Expresses.
Room and beds very comfortable and we had no issue with traffic noise even though we were street-side. The folks at the desk were very friendly as were the cleaning people, who gave us extra coffee when we asked. All in all, a good stay.

Room Tip: Pick a 4th floor room to help eliminate traffic and elevator noise.

This hotel was very clean and the free parking was a bonus.Breakfast was always fresh with lots of choices. Had lots of questions for the front desk crew and they were extremely helpful and courteous. It was easy to maneuver from Hastings Street but the drawback was the noise and appearance of parts of the street.
We stayed 5 days here and also had been 4 days at Holiday Inn Express. In Seattle.
Will be using Holiday Inns as we continue are trip thru Canada and back home in the USA.

we arrived late on the 24th of September 2013 for a 7 night stay, after flying up from Michigan, We were given a room on the front of the hotel which was a tiny bit noisy, but we slept well.
On the Wednesday morning we had a brief talk with the receptionist, and asked if there was a room on the back of the hotel - there was so we moved we had a better view and much quieter nights.
The Desk staff were all young and very keen to ensure we had a good stay in Vancouver, the Shuttle bus service was excellent running into Downtown Vancouver on an hourly basis. The driver was keen to tell us about his City , and suggested a number of places we could visit - Horseshoe Bay, the Aquarium and Stanley Park were just 3 of his ideas which we managed to visit.
We had breakfast each day and always found good items both hot and cold to set us up for the day.
In general the hotel filled our needs for our first visit to Vancouver, and the staff were always keen to assist us where they could

Room Tip: The rear of the hotel looks aout ove a row of quiet houses nad in the distance a range of mountains...

The cleaning staff was friendly and the room's were clean. The building does look old and it is on east hastings street( Got laughed at by some vancouver folks), the interior is superb and it hides the flaws outside.

The parking smells like fresh laundry which makes to a great start of the day!
The breakfast is subpar, but is edible and I love the fact that they leave fruits outside, if you want a healthy snack later on.

Didn't know there was a pool, but loved the gym and used it alot!

Will come back again!

Room Tip: ask for the view of the hills, if the sky is clear...it is a breath taking view!
