A good 'value for money' hotel. Comfortable clean and very friendly. The breakfast was a good filler that lasted the day. Shame we needn't find the gym on the fourth floor until we left!!!! The only problem for some may be the proximity to Downtown/Gastown/Yaletown etc. However, if you are happy to use the (very frequent and easy to use) tram or taxi its fine. Iwould definitely stay here again.

We were a group of 5 (two couples and a senior). We had three rooms for two nights. We only booked here as there was no availability in the downtown area due to various events. Whilst it was not our chosen location (purely because we had limited time in Vancouver and would prefer not having to travel in and out of the city area) the staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a room at the book and had no noise problems what so ever. I'm not sure about our travelling companions who had rooms on East Hastings although they did not mention any noise issues. Shuttle was fully booked for the two days but it is easy to catch the bus into town and relatively quick. The club next door didn't look all that inviting but the staff were terrific and food that we had for lunch was delicious. We walked a number of blocks in the direction of the city and came across a brilliant mexican restaurant that had live music. We got great rates booking directly with the hotel. Agree there is a seamier side to Vancouver - but what city doesn't. We never felt unsafe. Recommended for top rates close to city with convenient transport options.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel and book the shuttle prior to arrival if you need one

Another excellent stay at Holiday Inn Express! Service was outstanding; the staff was most helpful. The shuttle provided by the hotel (along with the knowledgeable drivers) made our two-night stay awaiting our cruise most enjoyable. The location surprised us! The hotel is in a bit of an industrial and less-touristy part of the town. There was no glitz and glamour such as one might find "downtown". BUT!!! We had the BEST Chinese food across the street. We could tell it would be good, the menu was written in Chinese (with English subtext), the daily specials on the chalk-board were in Chinese as well. The majority of the patrons were Chinese, speaking Chinese. We needed transportation downtown for dinner and the hotel provided their shuttle at no cost, just a gratuity for the driver for a great narration of the sights and local history. On the one occasion when we needed a ride and the shuttle was not available, the desk hostess provided detailed instructions on taking the bus. Also, there was an eagle nest with a "chick" in it across the street! Overall, it was a terrific experience!

Room Tip: We asked for nothing special and got a very comfortable room! I think the views are all mediocre, b...

While not in the heart of town , the stay provides great value. Clean and large rooms, better than average breakfast , free internet and a shuttle to airport or cruise terminal. Be sure to make reservations in advance for shuttle

Some folks may be scared away by address but location is ok. Need to take bus on Hastings to downtown but buses run frequently and you can get excat change from front desk . The bus ride does show the seamier side of Vancouver

Would certainly recoomend staying here and would stay again

This hotel was great for parking, free breakfast and extremely friendly staff. The housekeeping staff were very thorough. But, my room was right on East Hastings and it was very loud, so loud that my 3 year old son and I barely slept the 2 nights we were there. My friend inquired for me about having a different room, but was told that since I paid for my room on-line thru expedia (which was untrue) that I could not change rooms. Then I was told they were full, and they did seem very busy. I did not book through expedia, but through my credit card's travel website to accrue points. I paid the exactly same price as advertised on holidays inn website, no less.

Room Tip: inquire about a room in the back

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was good.
The only problem was that we were in a room with a skylight which made it hard to sleep with daylight so early this time of year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with no skylight.
