“A great start to our honeymoon!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

We arrived after a long journey from the UK to be greeted by a friendly receptionist who confirmed that as per our booking, we had been upgraded to a junior suite and our room was available immediately.

Upon entering the room (room 1201), we were amazed at the size of it. It included a large sitting area that then led to a separate bedroom and onto a sizeable bathroom.

10 minutes after settling in, there was a knock on the door with a gift from the hotel to celebrate our marriage which were some very tasty chocolate/brownie type treats. A lovely touch which was not expected but gratefully received. Being from the UK, we do a like a proper cup of tea and although there was no kettle in the room, a quick call to reception and one was bought up within minutes. We failed to ask at the same time whether they could provide tea bags and so asked the kind gentleman if he would mind bringing these to our room also. Again, he was back within minutes. We cannot fault the service!!

The only negative (if I had to give one) would be the cost of parking at $40 a day!! Perhaps this isn't expensive for central Vancouver but it seemed expensive to us.

To end on a positive, our stay from start to finish was lovely and we would not hesitate to recommend this centrally located hotel to anyone in the future.

Thank you for your comments, and we are glad that you were able to enjoy your honeymoon with us!

In most of our guestrooms now, you will find that we have recently installed Kreups coffee/tea makers; which many of our guests really like. But we understand that some also prefer to brew a cup of tea with a kettle, so ensure that we have some of these in stock.

Our parking is a standard rate in the city, and compared to other venues, is actually on the less expensive side.

We hope to see you back here again soon!

Located 7 blocks to cruise dock across the street to pacific. Shopping center. Hotel personnel very helpful especially. Soo. Parking is not easy. Let valet park. Cost is out of line. But id stay there again. Great dining room. Near needle tower and a great reasonably priced vietnamese restaurant. Where the smoothies are a delight. My rate was good. By paying in advance. Non refundable.

Room Tip: Pre pay for better rate. Ask for 602. Area to see street

After shopping around for hotels and rates, I made my reservation through the hotel's website. I was initially disappointed they didn't have an airport shuttle, but then learned that the Sky Link train has a stop only a block from the hotel. The Deluxe Queen Guest Room was spacious, and the bathroom had floor to ceiling marble walls.

Within a block of the hotel was a large shopping mall, the Art Museum (in the former courthouse building), and many other restaurants and shops. The cruise terminal and Canada Place were about 6-8 blocks away. I took one of the "hop on, hop off" bus tours, and that also stopped within a block of the hotel - - at the Art Museum.

The service by the staff was also excellent. There is a full service restaurant in the hotel, and the food was so good!

I would definitely return here.

It is great to hear that you were directed to use the Canada Line from the airport to downtown, as this service is very quick and our hotel is only a few steps from the station. With trains leaving from the airport every ten minutes or so, we are sure that you found this quite handy as well.

We hope that you are back with us soon and experience more of our hospitality and great foods soon!

We had a great stay at the Metropolitan Hotel for 2 nights before our cruise. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed. I don't usually care about the towels but have to say they were especially nice and thick. Had a small narrow indoor pool, but still managed to swim laps (about half lap in length.) We took the train from the airport and the hotel was right around the corner from the metro stop (think it was Vancouver Center stop.) We walked 4 blocks downhill to Canada Place when it was time to cruise. Walked to Stanley Park and had easy access to public bus to Granville Island. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely modern central hotel in Vancouver. Ideal situation for cruising from Canada Place Pier. Beautiful spacious rooms, lovely, knowledgable and very helpful staff and a good restaurant. Very pleased we stayed before and after our cruise. Would most definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Wouldn't worry about it. The hotel has 17 floors, we have stayed on the 4th and are currently on...

My wife & I recently spent 2 days/nights in Vancouver and stayed at the Metropolitan. A very pleasant experience indeed. We stayed on the 17th floor, so noise was not a problem. Our room was a nice size, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large and very nice. We had a whirlpool tub and an enclosed shower all in marble. When you book, make sure you ask for whatever specials they are running. We received fifty percent off parking and free full breakfast. Service is exemplary. Al in all, a lovely place to stay for a great price.

Room Tip: Book over the phone for specials that online services do not offer.

The Metropolitan was clean except we did not appreciate a room that had a strong stale cigarette smoke odor. We arrived late (around 10:30pm) and were not happy with the room. They did move us to another room ~ smoke free. Also, the first room did not have the bed we had asked for. All was resolved.
Breakfast a big disappointment in quality. Our omlettes not as ordered (soft) came definitely overcooked and the wild (?) mushrooms were frizzled into tough little brown 'things' sitting on top.
My cappuccino was a disaster as well as small and cost was expensive!
If you stay at the Met' go around the corner to some great places. Great cappuccino and fresh warm breakfast rolls.
The hotel is not central to much and taxi rides are expensive. We did walk to the art museum (close by) saw tourists on their way to prison on an open air hop on hop off bus.
Other than that and a great restaurant 'Le Crocodile' we will pass this one up again. Oh yes, the dinner menu was limited in choice and unappealing. the after dinner drink was expensive but o.k but the dessert was small, insignificant and $$$.

Room Tip: Go out of the hotel and around the corner for a good breakfast. Less expesnive too
