“Consistent and Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

I stay frequently at the Metropolitan for business and find the service is consistently excellent, the rooms are well appointed and the restaurant and bar are convenient and of high quality.

The location is great and easy walking distance to many of the areas of interest in Vancouver. You would be hard-pressed to find a better hotel that delivers value, quality and service for the money.

My husband and I and our boxer stayed here last fall for one night. Loved how quiet and central to the mall this was. For walking your dog: short walk - go right up howe to the art gallery, huge grassy area. long walk - go left down howe until you hit the seawall in coal harbor and go left and walk along it - eventually you'll hit the off leash dog area. The rooms are consistently clean and quiet. The pool and spa are great - best time to go is early or noonish - very quiet. There is a $30 pet fee which I didn't have to pay the first time I stayed, so not sure if this is new. Only complaint would be the tvs are a bit small and the wifi is strong/weak depending on your room location.

I booked the place thru Hotwire and was excited to stay here b/c I had always seen reviews on it. The bell staff was awesome from entry to exit - typical amazing Canadian hospitality. The hotel is in a great spot to where you can walk easily to most key locations in the city (it is directly accross from a huge mall and near Robson St., so definitely a fun place to stay to get your shopping fix). The rooms were good, but nothing really wowed me - I think they could be updated a bit - however, the bed was amazingly comfortable & the room had all the amenities needed. When I travel to Van, I usually stay in the Coal Harbor area and have a view, so I was a little disappointed to not have one here, but I think I just got used to being a bit spoiled with my previous choices. The fitness area is little and I was also surprised to see that there was not an elipitical; however, as always, I make due & hit the treadmill instead. If you like swimming, there is a great lap pool + jacuzzi. I also recommend signing up for the rewards program before you go. It is free and worth it w/ delish treats, free wi fi in the room and upgrade. Also, did have breakfast there and it was super delish. Love Van and was grateful from my stay at the Metropolitan.

We attended the Vancouver Canuck's game in Vancouver and searched for a property close to the area. The Metropolitan hotel appeared to provide good value and was close so we chose this property. Overall we were not disappointed at the price point advertized (frankly this was an extremely good value). I had stayed at the hotel many years ago and find the rooms to be looking their age a bit now and not reflective of the higher-end feel of years ago. The sound proofing too was a minor issue. Parking staff, front desk and concierge were all professional and friendly. Parking, though extra and expensive, was perhaps cheaper than comparable hotels in the area. Though we did not dine in the restaurant, it is recognized in Vancouver as one of the better places to go, so I would recommend making a reservation before arrival if you are considering this. The City, though rainy, was still clean and beautiful and the game was much fun and worth the expensive ticket price!

Stayed here in January 2013
The hotel has a great location and nearby the central train station. Overall I enjoyed the hotel and would stay here again.

Positives
Good room rate for advanced bookings
Quiet room, Good heating, Clean room, Large bathrooms, well equipped
24hr reception, even an old fashioned doorman
Whirlpool and pool area is great, even has an ice bucket nearby for your drinks
Has a business room with free usage of computers, internet and printers

Negatives
Poor WIFI signal strength throughout hotel, not even worth using!
No variable lighting in rooms, could have benefited with it and a light for the room entrance.

Its been a while since I have stayed here, and it is still the clean, affordable, and generally pleasant hotel it was last time. The rooms are well done and everything is just a block away. The staff were all pleasant and I will be back.

I had a business trip to Vancouver, and stayed here at the Metro. VERY nice accommodations. I look forward to returning here for another stay. It's right in the heart of Vancouver, across the mall. The staff is amazingly helpful. The rooms are super clean and very well done. My only complaint - the shower came to my shoulders. Yes, I'm 6'3, but still - it was like 5'8 at best. Overall, very impressed with this hotel, and will return, both for business, and personal trips!
