I won a night at The Burrard and a fifty dollar gift certificate at Abigail's Party Restaurant at a McGill Alumni event. Since I live very close to downtown and can be there in minutes by car or the Canada Line, it seemed a bit silly to stay downtown unless it was a super fancy hotel, which I didn't think The Burrard was. I hadn't even heard about it before, but how can you turn down a gift?
I asked a friend who lives in the suburbs if she would like a night downtown and she happily met be there late on a Friday afternoon.
The location is good, just next to the Wall Centre Hotel and close to shops and restaurants, the Art Gallery, and other downtown hotspots.
Staff was friendly and helpful, and for us the parking was free although I think it is normally 20 dollars a day which really isn't bad for downtown (one reason I usually take Canada Line now downtown.
The Burrard has obviously been redone but it has the style of an old fashioned motel or as they say, Melrose Place without the pool but it does have an attractive central courtyard. Our room was small but there was space for everything and it was really well laid out. Bathroom was very cute and had nice toiletries. I really liked all the little touches. The beds were super comfy. I also liked how they had suggestions for dining nearby, and we were offered free bikes but the rainy weather didn't inspire us but very nice if the weather was better.
There was a cute little cafe next to the hotel.
We ended up walking across the Burrard Bridge to go for dinner and a movie and the next morning we went off to Abigail's Party in Kits for brunch.
I think it would be a great place for a weekend and probably much less expensive than many downtown hotels.

Room Tip: I wouldn't want to be facing Burrard street

Great location: Dead easy to get to in our hire car from the airport, in a nice part of town, close to lots of bars and restaurants.
Good value for money: It's not expensive to begin with, and we were able to have 3 adults staying in a queen double which made it even better value. Parking costs $20 a day which is less than what it would cost elsewhere local.
Comfortable and stylish: Nice sized comfortable beds, great retro decor, thoughtfully done. Everything is spotlessly clean.
Plenty of facilities: Each room (we stayed in 2) has a free pod-coffee machine, fridge, big bath, powerful shower, and facilities to plug in your phone. The hotel also provides good quality free wi-fi, parking, free bike hire (first come, first served, naturally) and had a cafe attached to the hotel. There is also a PC and printer in the lobby.

Finally the toiletries they provide really are the best you'll ever "steal"!

Couldn't ask for more!

Perfectly fine, and centrally located. All kinds of food along Davie. Easy to get everywhere by bus. A quick walk to the Harbor. The only negative is that they totally blew my wake up call. Good thing my alarm clock worked! Someone tried to break down the outer hotel wall in the middle of the night because the hotel door was locked. Maybe they have a curfew!

Room Tip: Street view was awesome. In the middle of the night, someone tried to break down the wall from the s...

Stayed for 2 nights on business. Great retro feel, compact but nicely appointed room without the usual cookie cutter decor. Our dog loved his freshly turned out bed, food bowls and treats! Decent coffee and nibbles at the cafe next door. Inner courtyard felt like an oasis in the middle of the city. I would recommend this hotel to those looking for something fun and different from the standard hotel chain experience.

Outstanding location easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping, great price, nicely remodeled without losing any of the 1950s charm. The staff were helpful and friendly, they have a nice cafe, free wi-fi, parking...really, what more could you ask for!?

Room Tip: The double beds are wider than a normal double.

Stayed there over New Year 12/13 and had a wonderful time. Great location, friendly staff, big clean room and good value... What more could you ask for? Linked to a great little coffee shop next door too, which was a happy 'hangover' bonus!

Had the pleasure of staying at this retro-cool (Motor-Inn) hotel. Reminds me of the places we stayed in as a family in my youthful travels. I found this to be a very unique stay experience, nothing else like it, in or around Vancouver. The middle courtyard was a nice distraction as well.

All in all, very clean & stylish rooms. The nespresso machine was a nice touch too (ended up buying one).

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the inside courtyard.
