We stayed one night on the 5th of June after an Alaskan cruise. Room 1801. During our previous stay to Vancouver we stayed at the Hyatt. I would choose Blue Horizon over the Hyatt primarily due to location.
Service: We arrived at 8am and the front desk host was able to check us in. All of the front desk staff was extremely helpful throughout the day. We spoke with several different staff members as the hotel was so convenient that we stopped in during the day. We needed to leave at 4am to catch an early flight and they were helpful in calling a cab and taking care of our bill in the middle of the night.
Rooms: Room was spotless. Decorations were quite bland. Ample counter space. No clothes line or towel rack in the shower. Amenities Included a combo soap, shampoo & conditioner wall dispenser in the shower. Bar soap for sink only. Body lotion. Free internet access, safe and refrigerator. Free coffee, tea and hot water maker. Rooms were extremely spacious. Closet was small and the safe was in the closet so that took up room. However the room was so large that you had ample space to make up for the small closet.
Common areas: The lobby was small was nicely decorated. the interior hallways were sweltering - I think the a/c was not turned on to save energy costs.
Other: This is a stop for the Vancouver HOHO trolley (not the Big Bus). the front desk will give you $2 off coupons. They will also give you detailed city bus directions to all of the attractions and a good map of the city.
Location: Ask for a higher floor. I'm not sure how much the Robson Street clubbing noise would affect lower floors. The location of the hotel was excellent. An abundance of restaurants and shops were just outside our door. There is a 7-11 around the corner and a safeway down the hill. Several 24 hour restaurants within a block.
