“Stress-free Blue Horizon”
Reviewed November 14, 2008

Friendly reception staff, fantastic room. Huge with 2 big comfy clean beds, armchair, plenty of furniture and built in mirrored wardrobes. Modern bathroom. Balcony with fantastic views and we were on the 14th floor. Ask for a high floor like we did. Plenty of lifts so you never have to wait too long. Couldn't ask for a better location. Would recommend this to anyone I know. If I ever find myself in Vancouver again, I would definitely stay in this hotel.

We have stayed at the Blue Horizon every October for the last 4 years. It is a great location, right on Robson, close to everything. All rooms have a balcony and the rooms are quite large, though the bathroom is a bit small. They have a parking garage and the staff has always been very helpful and professional. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves a great breakfast, though with so many options in Vancouver, we haven't eaten there often. We love the convenience and the price (around $130 for a deluxe king). Always request the highest floor possible, as the views get better (obviously).

If you want a great view of english bay & stanley park at a reasonable price this is the place to stay. Our family suite on the 29 th floor was great. The hotel was very accomadating to allow grama & grampa to stay in the same room as their grandson. ( the hotel has a max 3 adult per room rule.) After a short conversation with the manager she allowed us to put 4 adults in the room. The pricing is reasonable for the area, but still be prepared to dish out almost $350 a night. (off season)Some of the other hotels in the area are twice the price. The only down side to this hotel is the street noise. Robson can be a loud street at closing time on the weekend. Even on the 29 th floor we were awakened at 3 am by mouthy drunks. If you are on a lower floor and are not planning on hitting the bars on the weekends you may want to reconsider your location.

Stayed here for 3 nights in August. For the price we were impressed with the hotel. Reception staff were polite and helpful. Room was large and more than adequate for our stay. Great location, walking distance to Stanley Park, and downtown shopping on the door step. Great cafe close by serving reasonably priced, hearty breakfast - Coco Rico Cafe Bistro, 1290 Robson Street.

My husband and I stayed here in September, 2008. The location was excellent. The hotel upgraded us to room 2806 which provided magnificent views even though the weather was cloudy with rain. We had windows on two sides, a balcony, wet bar and seating area. Although the hotel was designed to provide excellent views from all sides, subsequent highrises have limited views for some rooms. Ask for a room facing Stanley Park. Contact hotel directly for best rate and room location.
Access to ice is limited to just a few floors. the 14th floor is highest before paying for an upgrade to superior room. But ask for an upgrade. We didn't have to ask, they just gave it to us but if they don't, ask.
Parking is convenient, and bringing your luggage in and out is no problem. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The morning we left for the airport, we ate breakfast in the hotel cafe. We told the waiter we were trying to make a plane and we couldn't believe how fast our food arrived. It was inexpensive and good value.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel.
Note: if you are interested in using the trolley to get around to the sites in the city, it stops in front of the hotel. You can print a $1 off coupon from the internet and print the schedule. We were glad we just took our car as we had not trouble parking and went places the trolley didn't. Also, the trolley stops running around 5.
Also note that there is an airport bus that brings you to the hotel next door for $13.

With the excellent location and great value, you can't find another one at the downtown of Vancouver. It is a few minutes walk from the Stanley Park, the Convention hall and the skytrain station. You may go shopping and have great meal on the Robson Street. I also got an fantastic nightview of vancouver downtown from my room which is located at 24/F too.
