I'm a reformed vegetarian. We're like reformed smokers... only worse! So when I say this vegetarian restaurant gave us hands down one of the nicest meals I've had in Vancouver so far, I urge you to take into account quite what fulsome praise that is!
Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and a real feeling that everyone who works there does so because it's what they choose to be doing with their life, rather than something they got stuck with. Bonus points for the sign warning they'd be closing for three days for the annual staff camping trip - exactly the kind of thing I love to see in a workplace!
Within minutes of being seated, the waitress bought over two jars (literally, jars) of ice cold drinking water. Very welcome after an afternoon in the sunshine at the Italian Day on Commercial Drive!
We ordered a plate of nachos between us - large, with a side of guacamole. To call the portion we received "generous" would be an understatement! Huge plate piled high with baked-to-perfection fresh nachos, covered in delicious cheese, sweetcorn, and chilies, with dishes of guacamole, sour cream, and without question the finest freshly made salsa I've ever tasted. Absolute heaven and such a generous portion that, even as hungry as we were, we couldn't finish it!
Vegetarian or omnivore alike, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place if you're looking for excellent value, good quality Mexican food in a welcoming, unpretentious setting.
