Our Chinese friends took us here for dinner. Fantastic food. Great flavors. Absolutely loved the duck! Quick service, clean restaurant. Best Chinese food I ever had!

The best dim sum i have ever had , bar none. Simply delicious and mouth watering.
Very reasonable price as well. The only negative is the long waiting time , even on weekdays.
If you love Chinese food ,esp dim sum , you should not miss this place.

We knew we had made the right choice when we arrived as: 1) the noise level as we entered sounded like the Tower of Babel at about 100 decibels, and 2) we were the only non-Asians in the large place (about 70+ white linen-covered tables I estimated). Actually luxurious surroundings, comparably speaking, for a dim-sum restaurant. Service was fair to good, had to wait for about 5 minutes for tea and our order to be taken, but all with a smile and prompt return once it got started. We ordered not from rolling carts but by checking off our choices on a printed order list. They came out one at a time, obviously literally right off the burners, as all were piping hot, very fresh, and most importantly, delicious. We had 6 separate items, and the siau mai was of the best I have ever had anywhere, including Hong Kong and Taipei. Was told it was expensive but 6 items plus three soft drinks for two came to $49 which, to me, in a very nice setting such as this, was a bargain. A bit of a way out of town on the way to the airport but plenty of parking. Definite will return when next in Vancouver.

Visited this restaurant several times (as well as their sister restuarant at 2200 - 8181 Cambie Road in Richmond, BC) for dim sum lunch and dinner. In the past, people often commented that the BBQ ducks and sucking pigs from Vancouver were better than the one in Richmond. They added that the same was applied to food as well. To me, both are upto standard but not the best. Environment is good for both as high end Chinese restaurant (price as well); suitable for business function and/or special dinner functions such as wedding. If it is just food alone, I shall give 3.75 (in view of the price paid) but also add 0.25 on the environment for dinner. Ample parking spaces for both restaurants.

On the way into Vancouver from the airport we stopped at rage Red Star restaurant on South Granville for dinner. At 9 pm we were surprised to find the restaurant less than half full. After a tasteless dinner which was way overpriced we could understand so few customers. Also noticed the waiter trying to sell very expensive "fresh crab" to customers. This happened to us at a Chinese restaurant on Broadway and Granville and we fell for it only to be shocked at the crab being charged at $55.00. In Vancouver on the sea? This is ridiculous.
Have had dim sum at this Red Star several times and it was good but the dinner was terrible and way overpriced! Go to one of the smaller establishments near by for better food and a better prices. This place is now off our list. Remember fancy menus mean fancy prices but not necessarily good food.
