This hotel is well maintained and well decorated and offers various perks, such as free breakfast and WiFi, but the rooms are tiny and the noise from the street is a constant nuisance. We booked 8 nights at this hotel and, despite having requested a quiet room, were given a tiny and incredibly noisy room on the 2nd floor, almost on the corner of Dunsmuir and Seymour Street with a constant flow of heavy traffic throughout the day and night. Despite the double-glazing, almost all the traffic noise penetrated right into our head during our rather disturbed sleep. Added to this, on several occasions, we had to cope with the noise and disturbance from the cleaning maids. As, they didn't turn up to clean our room while we were out, we had to request to have it cleaned upon our return at around 3:00 PM. Not withstanding this inconvenience, we made a complaint to the manager who gave us a bottle of wine as a compensation and promised to get our room cleaned more promptly. Unlike what was described by other reviewers, we found the information and assistance provided by the front desk staff just average. In honesty, we feel that this hotel is more appropriate for a very short stay or for cost-conscious heavy sleepers.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a room at the back of the hotel, or choose another hotel.

Thanks for taking the time to write to us about your stay at the St. Regis. We’re disappointed to hear that your experience didn’t live up to the high standards we expect for our guests.

In high season, housekeeping is an all-day process for our team. Guests who expect to be back in their room at a specific time can inform our Front Desk staff who will ensure that their room is made up at their requested time.

Downtown city noise is one of the most difficult issues for any downtown hotel. Just by reading our past reviews, it’s easy to see how the sensitivity of guests varies. While the vast majority of TripAdvisor reviewers have found it very easy to sleep well at the St. Regis, some have not. We do have ear plugs at the front desk for guests who require them. Given that many of your past reviews seem to have the common theme of problems sleeping because of noise, perhaps a hotel as central as the St. Regis wasn’t the best choice for you?

Please feel free to contact us directly if you didn’t enjoy any of the recommendations from our front desk. This kind of feedback goes a long way toward helping us refine the recommendations we make in future.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to pass along your feedback.

Since our hotel of choice, the Westin Bayshore, was fully booked (see my other review), we decided to spend a day checking out the Chinatown area, and decided to port over to the downtown, and chose the St. Regis Hotel. When we opened the hotel door, we literally gasped - we'd never seen such a top-notch presentation in an older downtown hotel. The rooms are incredibly gorgeous, the bathrooms are new and high in quality and design. We were facing an ugly side street, but could and did block that out with the curtains, and got a surprisingly quiet night's sleep. The bed was comfortable, and all the ports and jacks built into the wall were bound to be useful to business and personal travelers with computers, smartphones, etc. The two free bottles of Fiji water, and free apples downstairs, were welcomed minor perks. More of a major perk were the computers and printer downstairs, which we were able to use without charge. The elevator is small and slow, but there are stairs adjoining it. Another huge surprise was the great breakfast in the beautiful Arts and Crafts style room downstairs. There was a podium as well, which implied it could be used for business conferences. Another perk was access to a 35,000 foot gym down the block, but the fact that gym didn't have a pool nor Jacuzzi was a big minus. I think this room cost over $200 the one night, but it was well worth it. We would definitely stay in this hotel again, and highly recommend it to travelers.

I've just arrived from Vancouver.
Stayed 8 days at St Regis, 4 days to visit, 4 days to work.
It's a wonderful choice to visits and to go to the Congress Center.
The breakfast is included, as are all the distance phone-calls.
There is an excellent steak restaurant in the same building, and a bar with good salads and snacks at a good price.
I highly recommend St Regis

This hotel is literally 2-3 blocks from everything in Vancouver: the waterfront, Gastown, Chinatown, Robson...
By our second day, the staff at the front desk recognized us going in and out. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. Especially Ryan, Gary, Diana, as they were there the most. The room was clean and nice sized. We didn't spend much time in the room, so we didn't need much. Love that each room had it own internet router, so was secure. The breakfast was OK, nothing special, but good. It's the staff and the location that make this hotel a place I'd definitely come back to again.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and it was quiet when window was closed. Ice machines were only on 2nd and...

I found the St.Regis to be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at for a number of reasons. First of all, the staff. Very helpful and friendly and professional. We arrived early in the morning after our cruise ship docked and they stored our luggage for us while we went out to lunch. Upon returning we found that our luggage had already been placed in our room and we were given our key. The room itself was comfortable, stylish and VERY clean. Great bathroom with a very large shower. A full breakfast is included as well as free WiFi, water, chocolate and long distance calls to anywhere in the world. The location is perfect for exploring Vancouver and only a block away from the train to the airport.
