“Pretentious Relais & Chateaux”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

The hotel presents an Old Europe look, with old wood chairs, fake antiquities that in the end are just brown and old decoration.
The room is pretty big with a confusing cable TV system.
The towels are poor in size and quality.
Metal towel hangers and lightshades are rusty and not shiny.
Breakfast is sooo slow, so if you intend to take a flight after breakfast , go to the restaurant very early .
Coffee is not brought to the table in a china pot, but just at every table there is a very ugly plastic Thermos.
Relais & Chateaux is getting loose in their acceptance of member hotels.

Stayed for three nights beginning of June. Unfortunately the room allocated to us had a disappointing outlook overlooking air conditioning units at the back of the hotel, so we asked to be moved. No other room was available at the front, so we decided to upgrade to a suite, which was lovely with a separate lounge area and big balcony. The hotel is very central - we walked or got the tram to most sights, Good selection of restaurants nearby although the Bacchus Restaurant serves excellent food and would recommend the rack of lamb, Breakfast here was also one of the best served on our trip.

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Would recommend doing the float plane trip from the harbour if the weather is good, the views are fantastic. The hotel very kindly organised this for us.

We enjoyed a two-night stay at the Wedgewood and both the comfort and service of this hotel is exceptional. Very quiet with highly comfortable beds. We did not get a chance to try to restaurants but we would certainly consider staying here again on our next trip to Vancouver.

It was an awesome weekend - we started Friday night, the hotel atmosphere/ambience very nice and elegant.....had dinner at Bacchus Restaurant and Lounge - food superb, service very pleasant, efficient and friendly. The room was upgraded we had a beautiful room. The spa is well-worth going to, the massage 90 minutes was wonderful and the facial 60 minutes - ooh la la!!! The location is perfect for walking around the city - close to shopping and many cafes and restaurants.

With both Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis - finding a comfortable bed in a hotel is crucial to a good night's sleep. Our bodies are hypersensitive to pressure points - the brain can not distinguish what is bad pressure vs good pressure and reacts the same way to both - with excruciating pain. An uncomfortable bed can mean feeling like you are lying on a bed of nails resulting with sleep deprivation and you can imagine that that isn't conducive to a good vacation or getaway. The Wedgewood Hotel has super comfortable beds with luxurious soft linens and for once I was able to get a refreshing nights sleep and that is a rarity.
I had a sweet little balcony with wrought iron chairs and table with a view of an outdoor patio. Though on a main street - the lush foliage provided both privacy and noise reduction. A nice touch was all the trees lighting up after dark with pinpoint LED lighting. The staff were superb - from the doorman who greets you and is available for assistance, the front desk staff - and housekeeping whose job is to keep your room spotlessly clean. It cost approximately $30 to get from the airport to the Wedgewood Hotel by cab which is worth every penny for the convenience of door to door travel. The Wedgewood Hotel is located in a wonderful quadrant of the Vancouver - you don't need a car - everything is within walking distance and public transit & trolley car tours are available if you want to go further. I found a great organic market called Choices nearby as well as wonderful bakeries and restaurants for every budget and taste. With fresh baked cookies brought each evening you can tell that the Wedgewood Hotel management are making sure that every visit is both unique and comfortable. The cost of staying downtown Vancouver is astronomical but the Wedgewood Hotel has packages that take the sting off the high rates especially if you get a bed and breakfast plan.

Room Tip: If you suffer with arthritis or Fibromyalgia - the Wedgewood Vancouver has comfy beds that relieve...

We found ourselves unexpectedly heading to Vancouver the last weekend in May and booked the Wedgewood based on other reviews we read. Our expectations were exceeded. At the time of our check-in occupancy was low so we were upgraded to a lovely suite with a balcony looking out on the city and a box of chocolates in our room! We loved our stay. Location was excellent. We walked all over, and boarded one of those hop-on hop-off tours across the street at the Art Museum - a good choice to acquaint ourselves with everything. The work-out room is excellent, and the sauna is terrific - small scale but perfect for this place. Although they don't provide breakfast we walked to the next block where there was a Bellagio restaurant with great breakfast fare at reasonable prices. We dined at the Wedgewood one evening and although the restaurant is pricey our food, the service, and the atmosphere was commensurate with the price.

Room Tip: Balcony was a plus - and did not notice any street noise.

We stayed here in May 2014 for two days before going on a Cruise. We were upgraded to a suite which was very sumptuous if slightly dated decor wise. The staff were extremely helpful. One waitress in particular radiated more happiness than the Sun itself. It was a pleasure to be served by her. The food in the restaurant was excellent. A great start to our holiday adventure.
