“A very nice hotel”
Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the wedgewood for 4 nights after l hermitage had no availability and overall, despite some miscues we enjoyed the stay. We picked the wedgewood after an enormous amount of research and we felt it paid off as it is among the top hotels in Vancouver.

Positives: good location with nice views of the Vancouver art galley, service is great (the guys and th front door were great), on the website the hotel looks stuffy but it was really quite nice and not over the top, the location is excellent next to lots of restaurants and shopping, the room is well appointed (ceilings are a little short but this seems to be typical in Vancouver and is Asian influenced), food in the restaurant is excellent.

The negative: there is not a pool, spa and workout room is small, we were awoken 2 nights in a row at 2am with quite loud banging pipe noises. They offered to move us but who wants to move that late? Fortunately after running water in tub and shower it stopped.

We really did an an enormous amount of work looking at suites in Vancouver and we feel comfortable that despite the noise issue we made a good choice. I would also add the suite was about 30 percent cheaper than the some of the hotels on the water (which I found overpriced, over cruise shipped or over conferenced)... L ermitage is nicer but we overall enjoyed our stay here

Great boutique hotel-have stayed there repeatedly when in town with work.
Love the bar. in my experience on the friendliest place I've ever stayed and feels very safe for a lone female traveller.
They do need to sort the wifi out which is temperamental at best but that would be my only criticism.

We stayed in a King Suite, the hotel has a great location close to shopping. It is a small boutique style hotel with old world charm. Beds were comfortable and rooms well maintained and had a balcony. The Bacchus bar was a classic "Hemingway" piano bar. We had a steam shower and massages in the spa and were most pleased. The Wedgewood's location is ideal if shopping is your purpose of staying in Vancouver.

The Wedgewood is well located for anyone who wants to explore Vancouver, which turns out to be an unexpectedly lovely city, with plenty to occupy a three-day stay. Great welcome from the consistently friendly and helpful staff and a very comfortable suite made this hotel choice a brilliant way to start a road trip. Exceptionally comfy beds. Recommended.

Very friendly and helpful staff with very good food in the Bacchus restaurant although not quite expensive. The only slight criticism is that it is a little too dark in the restaurant even to read the menu with ease.

While the staff at the Wedgewood was friendly, in no way does this hotel match the quality of accommodations we have come to expect from Relais Chateaux. The rooms look beyond tired - they're simply exhausted -with fittings and fixtures worse than a typical Marriott. Housekeeping services were also wanting. We left the hotel at 9 am and returned at 4:30 pm to an unmade room (although we had the "please service" sign affixed to the door the whole time). When we asked for the room to be serviced we were told that, "sometimes this takes time." Seven hours is a whole lot of time to make my bed and give me some new towels! Speaking of towels, I haven't received fewer - or thinner - towels than we had in our room. All in all, the location is fine but this is by no means a luxury property or worthy of a Relais Chateau designation.

Always interesting to stay in a Relais and Chateau in a city, as they built reputation on country escapes of high quality without all the 5 star formality which used to be so common, particularly in France. I found this to be an excellent compromise- all that you need in a high standard business city hotel, but just the right amount of personal attention (including a great bar which was the hub..). Staff are outstanding which really helps if the hotel is good enough- which Wedgewood certainly is. Helps too that we had an excellent corporate rate through Charton Hobbs our fine Canadian Kilikanoon wine agents!
