“Great Location and Service”
Reviewed August 20, 2007

The location is right in the heart of the city, you're within walking distance to tours, great shopping, restaurants, and cool neighborhoods. The customer service is excellent, and everyone is willing to help wih recommendations. The room is really nice, but the bathroom could use an upgrade. Other than that, great experience.

I'd been dying to visit Vancouver after my boyfriend spoke so highly of it. I had accumulated enough Starwood points to get a free night, so my boyfriend and I booked a recent weekend in August, definitely high season based on all the prices of comparable hotels. The night we paid for was $353 CAN, more than I'm usually willing to pay for one night, but after checking the prices of other hotels, and since we were getting a free night too with points, we decided what the heck. We arrived in Vancouver on a Saturday around 9 am and dropped our bags off with the bellman, and went off to breakfast. While we were exploring Stanley Park, the front desk called to say our room was available for check in around 11 am. We checked into a suite which was very clean and modern. The fitness room had new equipment, but was rather small, as was the pool outside. This hotel was in easy walking distance to shops on Robson and Granville, and eating in Yaletown. The elevators were a wait though.

The entire staff was super helpful and friendly, and even allowed for me to check-out at 4 pm, as I wasn't flying back to the US East coast until 7 pm in the evening. Very accomodating staff!

I'd definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

  • Liked — Accomodating staff
  • Disliked — Smallish pool and jacuzzi not super hot.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire and got an incredible deal considering I was staying in Vancouver over one of the busiest weekends of the summer.
Much to my surprise, I received one of the suites on the 15th floor with a nice view over the theatre next door onto downtown buildings and a glimpse of the harbor in the distance - it was especially lovely at night.
The room itself was perfect. The carpet was new and all of the furnishing were tasteful and in excellent condition. There were french doors separating the small bedroom from the parlour area. The bathroom was sparking clean with lots of towels.
I had the $17 continental breakfast buffet that was quite delicious and kept me going well until mid-afternoon.
The pool and jacuzzi area are well kept and clean and a nice spot to sit with a glass of wine in the evening.
My only negative observations would be that they need to clean the common hallway carpets and that the wait for the elevator can be long at times. But these are very minor and did not affect an otherwise excellent experience. I have stayed here 3 times before and would definitely come back again.

We stayed at the Westin for two nights before leaving on a cruise. We arrived in the evening and the taxi driver had a hard time finding the hotel because the entrance is down a small alley. The bellman was quick to help with the bags and directed us to the front desk and said that he would bring the bags up to our room. We went to check-in and up to the room. Within two minutes there was the bellman with the bags, when he delivered them to our room he used our last name to address us, a nice personal touch that many hotels forget. The location is great, right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the sights. We stayed in a suite, which was a little oddly shaped with a very small bedroom and a large living area that featured a small kitchenette area with a fridge, sink and microwave. Overall a nice room.
The fitness room was small but each piece of cardio equipment had its own TV and they provided head sets for those that forgot them. They do charge for internet access, so if you plan on working be prepared for the expense.

Staff of the hotel is excellent. The head concierge recommended several things that we took advantage of and were happy we did. We have been to Vancouver before and had never done some of them so we are glad we talked with her. The room was clean but on the small side of rooms. The location was great on Robson street and close to shopping, dining and culture. The elevators were a little slow but overall not a big deal.

Very nice hotel, great room. Pool area was very nice. Parking was very pricy and a bit of a gong show. Overall a nice hotel but I felt a little over priced.

The Westin is a large "business" hotel, but in typical Westin style it is definitely above average -- nice Pottery Barn-style design, great rooms, a nice pool, and really terrific staff.

It might not be a "design hotel" but it is definitely a great place to stay if you are looking for a solid hotel in a very central location (easy few minute walk to Yaletown, Robson Street shops, etc.). They gave us a 1 bedroom suite which was really fantastic -- can't beat the Westin's Heavenly Bed!

One real highlight is Lisa, the head concierge. She is absolutely fantastic with spot-on recommendations, plus she's tons of fun. She recommended Brix for dinner, which was absolutely fantastic and we highly recommend it.
