We chose this hotel for romantic getaway for our 15 wedding anniversary.
Nice hotel with rooms stylished by 80s - we like that style. Very helpful staff, pleasant atmosphere. Stanley Park, all amenities nearby. View from our room on 33rd floor was stunning. Having a balcony to walk out and enjoy North Shore and Lions Gate Bridge was great. Very comfortable bed. Overall very satisfied.

This hotel is very convenient for those of us that love the waterfront of English Bay and the trails in Stanley Park. It is also great because you can get a full kitchen and make your own meals (grocery store in the lower level of the same building).

There are also all kinds of restaurants within walking distance and Robson St. shopping not far away either.

Room Tip: We have stayed in this hotel twice and love the water view rooms.

Great location in the West End of Vancouver. Great views of city or English Bay from upper floors. Hotel is over shopping mall that has pharmacy, grocery, etc. Lot's of internationl restaurants on Denman Street. Lynn who works in the hotel restaurant has been there waiting on me for over 20 years! How many hotels keep wonderful staff that long! Food is consistantly good and recent updates on the decor have brought things up to date. Last Saturday I stayed on the 33rd floor and it couldn't have been better. Suite had kitchen with comfortable living room and separate bedroom with new comfortable bed.

Room Tip: upper floors have great view...premium rooms are best. Request city view or English Bay.

Stayed here for 5 nights for a conference
Pros: Wonderful view from the balcony (23rd flr)
Fridge in room
Quiet room (close to the end of hallway)
Non-smoking entirely
Comfy bed
Grocery store beneath
Close to English Bay Seawall
Large room

Cons: The furniture is not in great shape and is nicked, scratched and missing a handle or 2
Bathroom floor, counters and ceiling grey and grungy
Halls, rooms and public spaces a bit down at the heels
Few inexpensive restaurants in short walking distance
A bit far from downtown or shopping
Concierge did help but was only minimally knowledgeable of bus systems, and out of the ordinary activities
A/C was a portable unit and really barely adequate for the size of the room

The conference food was really good although I never ate in the restaurant. If you have a conference here you will find all you need within short walking distance. The restaurants nearby are not as diverse as I would have liked: Banana Leaf was the highlight of our dinners, and Cactus Club for drinks at sunset (I thought their food was mediocre). The rooms compare to a Red Roof Inn with a private balcony in a hotel. If you like interesting food and more of a vibrant city scene stay downtown or off of Davies Street. Overall summary: It was good enough for a few days at a conference, but I left here and stayed at Sunset Inn for 4 days (to get a kitchen) and was happy to leave.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the bay.

Although the rooms are a little bit outdated they are very clean and roomy. On top of that the views from the room are very good! Very large window and balcony without any outside chairs unfortunately. Friendly staff and conveniently located for english bay, Stanley park etc. Complimentary wifi and morning newspaper much appreciated!

Don't be discouraged by the somewhat drab exterior. Although a little dated, this place has good sized rooms and apartments, friendly staff and is good value for money. Staying there was such a relief after travelling throughout Canada in small hotel rooms for 4 weeks. The added bonus is it's right in the heart of the West End precinct, and close to public transport and all the tourist sites. We stayed there twice in different rooms, either side of an Alaskan cruise. Both rooms had balconies with fantastic views and were well appointed, with comfortable beds. We really appreciated the guest laundry as we had been on the road for so long. There is a good bar and restaurant onsite, which was very convenient if you don't feel like going too far, although there are many local choices of good restaurants along Denman street. There is also a gym ( but we didn't use it), and handy shopping centre underneath where you can get any supplies you need. Taxi rank is right outside.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean or harbour view when you book.

Room Tip: the higher you go the better the view
