This is a good location and fair priced hotel although the bed wasn't that comfy. The fold out sofa bed my friend stayed on had a thin mattress that wasn't that comfortable and the main bed mattress was ok but bed very squeaky.

The guys on concierge were helpful but I always feel a $15 parking charge is pretty excessive.

Maybe stay here again if the rate is good.

I really liked this hotel except for a few serious problems. First and foremost the so called wireless is worthless. Worked weakly 30 percent of the time. Second it was pretty warm in Vancouver and the rooms were hot except for the bedroom that was air conditioned with a tiny wall unit. All we had were verticals for window treatments and they do not work in the bedroom with an air conditioner in a window. In June the sun comes up around five? Goes down around 10pm. The location is wonderful with a Safeway and Whole Foods Market doors away. Stanley Park is nearby within walking distance. The kitchen and close stores really help. The problems are enough to keep me away in the future otherwise it's a decent value. Oh yes they also now charge $15.00 for parking.

Room Tip: Stay low in the building as the elevator is very slow.

I stayed here for 6 nights in late May. The apartment was clean, and perhaps the one I stayed in had been renovated not too long ago, and so I certainly did not feel like I was staying in an "old" place.

The kitchenette was a major plus point for me when I selected Riviera Hotel. The ability to prepare our own meals certainly saved us quite a bit of money, plus the fact that there is a (Safeway) supermarket 3 blocks down Robson Street. The kitchen utensils were adequate for preparing meals for 4 people.

Also, the sofa in the lounge could be converted into a sofa bed, and this was also a plus point considering there were 3 of us.

Other amenities in the apartment: electronic safe, iron & ironing board, hair dryer

It seems the hotel underwent a change in ownership and/or management a few months earlier, and so parking is no longer free - I was charged $18 plus 5% tax for each night that I had a car registered for parking with them. The surface parking lot is right behind the hotel and is accessed from the Robson St front. Although all 40-plus rooms of the hotel were occupied, it seemed not all of the 12 surface lots were taken up. (Should the surface lot be full, there's also an underground parking lot accessible from the back street.)

Hotel staff were nice and friendly. The rooms were acceptable and clean. Hotel location was convenient for what we wanted to do. Robson street is a great street for walking and looking and an easy walk to Stanley Park. I'd use it again and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for one not on front of the hotel as hotel sits on a busy/noisy street...so noise can be irritat...

The hotel is on the robson street which has got lots of shops, restaurants etc. Walking distance to supermarket and harbour
Room was very spacious and clean. Bed wasn't too shoft and there was quite a lot of noise coming in from the street at night. Decor was little dated as well.
If you want affordable accommodation then this is it, you get what you pay for, no extras.

I recently spent five nights at the Riviera with my husband and two year old and was very happy with the hotel. The room was bright and spacious on the 10th floor. It was great to have the separate bedroom so we could do things while our baby slept - the bathroom is also separate from the bedroom so we didn't have to disturb her at all! The location is great, close to supermarkets and restaurants, stanley park, the waterfront and downtown. I was a little worried due to the mixed reviews I read before our stay but our experience was great. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's clean and functional and I was very pleased.
