We stayed here for 3 nights en-route to Whistler. It's a lovely hotel, quite funky with a modern art inspired design. It's clean and the room we had was spacious with good storage. The service is very good and friendly, and it basically has everything you need for a few night stay.
The only real thing I would complain about is actually the location. It's not bad by any means, and is very central and on Robson Street which is the main shopping avenue. But we found ourselves constantly undertaking the 15 minute walk down to the Yaletown/Gastown end of town where most of the interesting stuff is, including when we walked down to get the boat to Granville Island. By itself that's not too bad, but when you do that walk 4 times a day for 3 days it gets a bit annoying. I would be inclined to stay somewhere at this end of Robson Street purely for that convenience.
That aside, I would happily recommend The Listel.
