We've stayed at this contemporary boutique hotel three times and about to make a fourth trip in a matter of weeks. We always have a comfortable and pleasant stay.

The service at both the Listel and the restaurant downstairs, O'Doul's, has been consistently above par in our stays here. During the Olympics when we were in town (we stayed elsewhere, however, due to Olympic committees booking 90% of the existing hotel rooms in the city) we had a few drinks in O'Doul's to watch the Canada/Russia game, and the restaurant manager wandered by and gave us tickets to a medal ceremony for no apparent reason.

The property is conveniently located on entertaining Robson street which is chock full of restaurants and shopping; we are big hockey fans and previously enjoyed the large sports bar across the street but on our last trip we sadly noticed it has been replaced by a Greek restaurant, which for most people will probably be a nice upgrade.

O'Doul's offers a very tasty breakfast and, apparently, live music most weekend nights. I wouldn't know because there are so many great restaurants in the area at which to eat at that I never have had dinner there. I can particularly recommend Joe Forte's on the corner of Thurlow and Robson which has a great rooftop dining area in the summers.

Of course, the hotel has a bunch of art in the lobby gallery and scattered around the building. Although they make a point of saying the rooms are also appointed with local art, most guests probably wouldn't notice--the room art is really not that conspicuously different from any other hotel of this caliber. One or two pieces in a room is not enough to make a difference. It does make the lobby more engaging, however.

The Listel is appropriately, possibly even well, priced. It is an elegant, quiet but not stodgy hotel. We are a young childless couple ourselves, so I never really noticed, but thinking back on it now I realize we haven't come across any families here.

Cars are valet-parked and are returned to you with a few cookies wrapped up with a thank-you note--a cute touch.

Highly recommended for business travelers or adults traveling with either mature or nonexistent children.

For a hotel that was much more reasonable than alot of other central hotels this was a real find. The rooms were huge with lovely designs. There were quirky pieces of art/sculptures around the hotel also which we loved.
The location was second to none and the staff were very friendly.
Hight recommned with no hesitation. We stayed a week and would go back in a heartbeat.

We travelled Oct 2009.

We do an annual trip to Vancouver and we find the Listel Hotel to be perfectly situated for our needs. Right in the heart of the West End and adjacent shopping district, this boutique experience complete with spa area, jazz bar,and art displays provides both a homey retreat and a jump off for the sights and sounds of city life. The pluses are huge; walking distance to Stanley Park, the fabulous restaurants on West Georgia, and the entertainment in a number of great venues makes us as reliable as the annual migration of Canada geese.

Room Tip: Rates are great whether you use CAA,Kayak, or others, but do check a few.

We stayed here overnight for a city break from life on the island. It was pleasant enough but absolutely not worth the rack rate - we used a coupon. The wine tasting is a nice touch. The location is on the edge of Downtown and a fair walk to the West End or Stanley Park

The Good:
-- Location. nicely located about the center of the city, with convenient access to downtown as well as Stanley Park, Chinatown and Gastown.
-- Live jazz on the weekend, free wine tasting, friendly and helpful staff, nice artwork around.

The acceptable:
Room: I think I ended up in one of the older rooms here. The furniture, the tv and the accents were a bit older. The room was otherwise nicely cleaned, efficiently designed and quiet. I did get a good rest.

Wifi: The reception was fine, even though I was in a corner room.

Gym: i used the gym in the building, which was sufficient for what i wanted to do. There were 3 cardio and 1 weight stations. I was the only one there which also made it comfortable. I haven't tried the pass to the fancy gym.

The Bad: can't think of anything.

I'm quite averse to bad surprises when I'm on business travel. My impression is that this is a very reliable hotel, with a few nice perks to make your stay enjoyable. Would stay again.
