As has been mentioned by many others the staff at this hotel is amazing. My husband and I were only able to stay for one night before departing for our cruise but we wished we had more time to spend in this beautiful city. I was surprised at how large the room was for only two people. The sitting area was wonderful to sit and read in while my husband slept. Aveda toiletries meant I didn't even bother taking out my own shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The hotel was clean and very quiet, a nice combo after a very long flight from upstate NY. The desk man was very eager to share some suggestions of things to do on a limited time line. We followed his suggestions and were able to see much of the city. The location to the cruise ship terminal make this hotel a perfect location. We could not have been any happier with our short time spent here. Wifi was working while we were there (just as a side note.) The management of this facility should be very proud of their staff.

Our family of four stayed at Hotel Le Soleil for four nights. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the staff at this hotel is outstanding. The people at reception were friendly and polite, and the bellmen were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. I emailed in advance to ask that the minibar be cleared out so we could use it as a refrigerator, and my request was accommodated. The restaurant staff provided almost unheard-of customer service on our last morning there, when our kids ordered pancakes and were told that the restaurant was out of maple syrup (strange). The kids didn't really mind and decided to have the pancakes anyway, without syrup. After a few minutes, the young woman serving our table came to tell us that one of the other employees had gone to the grocery store down the street to get some syrup--they didn't think anyone should have to eat pancakes without it! Obviously, we were surprised and touched by their kindness. The service rating is based on this.

The hotel is very pretty and well-maintained, and our room was clean and had Aveda toiletries in the bathroom. The room had excellent black-out curtains. The location is nice if you plan to be in Canada Place or Gastown, a bit of a hike (or taxi) if you want to go anywhere else. It is conveniently near Waterfront Station for the trains.

There were a few less enjoyable aspects of our stay. The rooms are very, very small. They are pretty, and the large windows and mirrored walls help to make the rooms appear a bit larger. However, we were cramped with a family of four in a suite (king bed in one room, queen sleeper sofa in the other). My husband said he needed to go out in the hall to change his mind (haha). There was very little space to walk in the bedroom, and when the sofa bed was pulled out you couldn't open the cabinet to the refrigerator and tea kettle, or even walk over to the windows--we had to crawl over the bed to get to close the curtains. Also, the extra linens for the sofa bed were not so great--the blankets are thin and rough, and one even had holes in it.

The biggest problem of our visit was the lack of internet access. There is supposed to be complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, but it wasn't working until the night before we checked out. This caused us a great deal of trouble and inconvenience. We were told that it stopped working two days before we arrived. I think the hotel staff should have let the guests know that there was no WiFi or any other internet access available before we arrived and offered refunds if people needed to stay somewhere with access. Had we not booked the pay-in-advance, non-refundable rate (first time to do that, will never do it again), we would have left and checked into another hotel. If you have any business to conduct while you travel, or for many other reasons, this type of thing is a huge problem.

On the whole, this is a nice hotel, but I wouldn't call it a 5 star. It is best, I think, with no more than two people in a room. Oh, another thing--the hotel restaurant serves mostly Indian food, so if that is not your cup of tea, you will want to dine out. Breakfast was very good. This is the second hotel we've stayed in in Vancouver, and we will probably stay somewhere else next visit.

Dear EJP522,
Thank you for your candid comments regarding your recent stay at Hotel Le Soleil. I am sorry that you found our suites too cramped for your family of four and sincere apologies for our intermittent WiFi. We have had challenges on and off the last week & are trying desperately to determine where the problems lie as our provider is telling us all access points are working, which is frustrating as we all know how dependent we on the internet. I know the hotel's public space (restaurant & lobby) were not affected so this could have been a temporary solution. Unfortunately our guest services team wouldn't have known in advance that your particular suite would be affected - as challenges to the service were very sporadic. We would have kindly allowed you to seek alternate accommodation despite the non-refundable room package you purchased as we appreciate that your needs may not have been met.

Again, I am do apologize for this and hope that it didn't totally hamper your vacation in Vancouver.

This hotel is your home away from home. You enter and are treated with respect, kindness, and helpfulness from the concierge, front desk, and even a random staff member you meet in the elevator.
This is mostly a suite hotel with the room I stayed in being a one bedroom with a separate bath and large living space comfortably appointed. The bedroom had a big screen tv, large closet, fine linens and a down duvet to cosy up in. The bathroom had a luxurious soaker bath tub which was so comfortable I could have slept in it and Aveda bath products to top off the experience. The living area had a big screen tv, couch, chair and a desk. What I appreciated most about it was that the electrical outlet near the desk was mid wall so it was easy to access. Great idea!!

This is a very nice suite hotel within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and even the water. The staff was very gracious and friendly. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are very spacious. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher is always quieter.

We only spent one night in this hotel, but it was a great night! We took the Sky Train from the airport and walked a couple blocks to the hotel. We were too early for check-in, but the hotel staff graciously stored our bags for us. Honestly, I think the staff was the highlight of this hotel. The bellhops were super nice guys, very helpful and were great to our kids. The room was very clean and well maintained. The sofa sleeper was extremely comfortable, not like the typical sofabed. The only downside was the lack of a swimming pool for the kids. We had to use the Y's pool next door. We chose this hotel for it's proximity to the cruise ship pier three blocks away. We were able to pull our suitcases to the pier rather than paying for a taxi. Make sure you visit Stanley Park!
