took a walking tour here, & it was just ok. Enjoyed all the food displays, but it was really crowded & since we weren't able to cook/buy the wonderful food, it was just ok. If we lived & cooked there, I'd be delighted to shop for speciality foods there!

We rather foolishly decided that we would take our tour guides advice to visit Granville Island but not take her advice on how to get there. We walked on a very high bridge, along the edge of the dual carriageway (freeway) whilst Granville Island Market spread out beneath us! After quite long detour we managed to find our way there. It was well worth it. There were twee little art and craft shops and cafe bars all around the central market. The market itself had every kind of fresh food you could imagine. Lots of different types of fish, meat, fruit and patisserie. Our main regret was not finding sooner, we were flying home later that day so couldn't realistically buy anything. (Except cakes) We travelled home by boat across the bay, as recommended by said tour guide, it was relaxing and pretty and a lot quicker.

Granville island was much better than expected. Had to extend my parking to 5 hours!! A really interesting place if you like unusual shops and there are loads of them!. Finding somewhere to park is not easy and when you do it's 7 dollars for 2 hours. It's well worth it. We all had a very enjoyable time.

Tho I thought Granville would be cheap touristy shops, I found wonderful shops with top quality merchandise and could frequently talk with the creating artists themselves. A real Treat!

Shopped, ate great seafood, drank craft beers and relaxed! A perfect day to end our vacation. There are also many great street musicians to listen to and enjoy.
