We rather foolishly decided that we would take our tour guides advice to visit Granville Island but not take her advice on how to get there. We walked on a very high bridge, along the edge of the dual carriageway (freeway) whilst Granville Island Market spread out beneath us! After quite long detour we managed to find our way there. It was well worth it. There were twee little art and craft shops and cafe bars all around the central market. The market itself had every kind of fresh food you could imagine. Lots of different types of fish, meat, fruit and patisserie. Our main regret was not finding sooner, we were flying home later that day so couldn't realistically buy anything. (Except cakes) We travelled home by boat across the bay, as recommended by said tour guide, it was relaxing and pretty and a lot quicker.
