Granville Island is worth an evening spent strolling around, eating and enjoying a night out. Pleasant atmosphere with nice shops and several excellent places to eat. The water taxi's are a fun and safe means of getting to and from Granville.

A large market, art shops, craft shops, lots of bars and food places............you are bound to find something here that you like. Forget the car, bring some cash and wander around. Great place.

Granville Island was a fun place. It was raining while we were there, and we were really tired, so it was hard to walk around a lot. But, we ate a Bridges and sat next to the window - awesome view!! It was super fun looking at all of the docked boats and the bridge and everything. Great place, would love to go back!

Granville Island was once an industry-only site, and there are still industries, including a micro-brewery. However, most of the area consists of places to spend money--restaurants, craft stores that sell things like hand-thrown pottery and hand-crafted brooms, a theatre, an art school that's now a university (Emily Carr), my ultimate favorite art supply store (Opus), a hotel with a great terrace to have drinks (Granville Island Hotel), a bookstore, a fabulous French bakery, and, of course, the public market. The last is a covered area that houses all sorts of products and a food mall. This is where serious cooks buy their ingredients: the freshest fish, the best pasta, and so on. It's not a budget place. On the other hand, you can get buy with spending very little money as a tourist, if you want. Granville Island is now connected by the sea walk to Kitsilano Beach on the west, and heading east, a beautiful park and, further on, Science World. The entire sea wall is about the length of a marathon and brings you to Coal Harbor, on the other side of downtown Vancouver. If you're in the West End, you can walk to the beach and take a cute little ferry to Granville Island. At Granville Island, you can rent kayaks and take dragon boat paddling lessons,

Closest thing to a local farmers market though a bit commercialized. Right on the water across from downtown, so spectacular view and access by water bus. Try the cajun salmon burger!
