Owner description: Beautiful forest laced with well-marked trails for hiking and running.

We went to the park early in the morning for a run and were awed by how beautiful this park is. It's like a fairy-tale world and is so peaceful and quiet inside the forest. We only passed two other people the entire hour we were in the park. When you're from Texas and Oklahoma like we are, this is an amazing treat for some morning exercise. And it's free!!

I have lived in Vancouver for 6 years, but wasn't aware of the Pacific Spirit Park (or Endowment Lands) until we got our dog a year and a half ago. Pacific Spirit is one of the few places in Vancouver where dogs are allowed off leash at all hours, especially in a large area where they can walk, run or cycle alongside their owners. Not all trails are off leash allowed, which is nice because it gives bicycles, people who aren't too fond of dogs, or dogs who are better off being around dogs that are leashed a trail where dogs must be leashed. It's a good idea to check the map before you go in if you are walking with a dog unleashed so that you can map a route along the unleashed trails. We are so fortunate to have this at our disposal 15 minutes from downtown. Obviously as a dog owner this is where I'm most appreciative, but it is a fabulous place to cycle and go for a family walk. There are lots of garbage recepticals and I have never seen any litter along the trails. It's a pristine and beautiful forest.

Pacific Spirit Park is a large park that I believe is part of the University of B.C. lands but the land is protected from development. There are numerous trails running through it for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. Some of the trails are restricted to just walkers which is nice. You can walk cycle ride or run for miles in fairly unspoiled forest and some trails end up near the many surrounding beaches.

I have walked the trails in the park for 30 years... since before it was a park. There are so many great places to go... overlooking the sea, second growth forest where the light is never the same. Dogs and bikes allowed...
