As a quite large hotel, the Sutton wasn't true luxury but came close. The property has a nice traditional, elegant lobby area and near it was the wood paneled bar with leather sofas, chairs and a fireplace. The rooms were smallish, but clean and comfortable. The hotel is in the city center and right around the corner from Robson street - a fashionable shopping avenue with a variety of higher-end retailers. Plus the hotel's location makes other popular destinations, such as Gas Town easily walkable and is near the main bus/tram lines. Note - the doormen seem frazzled and not familiar with the local area. Consult the concierge (wait for the older gentleman - he seemed more knowledgeable) and a map for more accurate information. Also rumor has it, from a number of taxis drivers, that many of the celebrities filming in the Vancouver area stay in the Sutton's extended suites and often frequent the bar later in the night.
