“Great location & service”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We got a great deal on the Sutton Place through Hotwire ($139) and glad I did. We combined this with the Hop On Hop Off bus (picks up right in front of the hotel) and were able to go most anywhere in the city and surrounds with no problem. The room was very nice with a view of the city but this is one of the few hotels in this category that does not include breakfast. Several really nice restaurants very close (Joey Burrad across the street was a pleasant surprise - flatbread really good). Parking, on the other hand, was pretty stiff at $40 per night. We saved enough on the initial price to pay for both the parking and Hop bus plus a nice dinner!
Vancouver is a really nice location but you need several days to really see it all and the Sutton Place is a relatively affordable, nicely appointed 4+ star hotel. You will be happy with decision.

The Sutton Place Hotel is a gem in the heart of downtown Vancouver. This was my 4th stay at the Sutton, and they have all been spectacular!
The rooms are comfortable and clean with an old world charm combined with modern conveniences. If you need a larger room/suite or a longer stay check out the Residences side of the hotel. Plus you might even see a movie star or two!

A very good hotel, the rooms are not that big, but, the location -the best. Can't be better.
Wi-Fi expensive, go across the street to the coffee shop- free internet and great coffee.
We enjoyed the hotel very much.

Room Tip: try not to take a room facing the main road, on weekends lots of party noise till early hours of the...

This is the place I always look forward to staying at whenever I am in Vancouver. It is truly centrally located. I love the JapanDog stand on the corner and the great market across the street. The hotel's services are tops, their staff attentive, respectful and caring. I love Sutton Place. I don't mind signing my name to this review . . . it's a privilege. Glenn Hughes

I recently spent five nights at the Sutton Place Hotel and enjoyed my stay. The Location of the hotel is fantastic, within two blocks of two different sky train lines (including the Canada Line to the airport) and many different bus routes. The staff at the hotel, especially the bell boys were very helpful and approachable. The rooms are well appointed, but my one complaint would be that if you get a room with two beds - they are two SINGLE beds! Who has single beds at a hotel? Besides that though, the room was lovely. Great bathroom with both a stall shower and a large tub. I didn't personally check out the fitness centre, pool or hot tub, but my traveling companion did and said it was really great, especially noted that the gym was very large and much better than an average hotel gym.
Based on the location and access to transit I would definitely recommend this hotel - however I do think that the rooms require some small upgrades especially getting rid of the horrible single beds!

Room Tip: Get a King bed!

I stayed at the Sutton Place for four nights over a weekend. This hotel is in a great location in downtown Vancouver, close to shopping, theatre and great restaurants. It is in a very safe and vibrant area with lots to see and do. The street noise was tolerable as was the noise in the hallways.
If you go next door to the Sutton Wine Store and become a member (all you have to do is purchase one bottle of wine) you will get a card entitling you to 50% off food in the hotel restaurants Mon. - Fri., a great deal for sure.
Now for the hotel. This 4-star needs some updating. The room was tired, carpets stained, wallpaper peeling in certain spots, furniture old and battered and worst of all was the small, tube style TV. Come on hotel owners, get with the program and spend some money on what could be a gorgeous place. The bed was comfortable and maid service good but the night bellman was cranky and when we gave him a tip for delivering a small packet of coffee to our room, he snarled like a rabid dog. The hotel charges a fortune for internet if it is not included in your room rate and lots for parking as well. The valets on the front entrance are very efficient and try in vain to keep the traffic in the roundabout moving. The front desk staff are okay, not very friendly and not at all accommodating when we requested a late check out on a Tuesday morning. They were willing to let us stay till 1:00 pm if we paid an extra $50.00.
To get to the pool (which is really very nice), you have to traipse through the lobby and over to the long term residence side of the complex. There you will wait up to 10 minutes or more for an elevator to bring you up a single floor to the pool/spa/gym area. There is no stairwell in this area and when we questioned a staff member about fire hazard he simply apologized. Not sure how that will help someone out if ever there was an emergency.
I will probably return to the Sutton Place some day, if I can get a cooperate rate again. If not, there are nicer places in this this beautiful city.

Had a great stay at this hotel, the location was great right on Robson St. and restaurants and shopping right in front of the hotel.

The suite had a large living room, bedroom and bathroom.  Both rooms had a large LCD tv and the bathroom had a separate tub and shower and had great toiletries including a lip balm.

Concierge service was great and helpful.  The only minor thing I can think of was the shower stall was a bit dated.  But that's trying very hard to find fault. Would definitely stay here again.
