“Didn't want to leave!”

Convenient location, friendly, expert service and beautiful rooms. We booked online and think we must have been given an upgrade because the room we stayed in was far superior to rooms we have paid much more for. The hotel desk staff was accommodating and friendly, they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

We ate lunch in the Gerard Lounge and I wanted to stay there all day, it was so pleasant and relaxed. It is reminiscent of an English pub and the fish and chips were of the style we had enjoyed in London, they also have a vegetarian menu. Shannon was our server and just as charming as she was efficient.

This hotel definitely deserves its stars; the décor is splendid and tasteful. The guest rooms are well laid-out and generously sized. Furnishings are discerning and the beds are comfortable and cozy. All of the staff we interacted with were wonderful and obliging.

The website states that the hotel has had some renovations; so I think any of the water troubles that previous reviewers have mentioned are no longer a problem.

I could sum up my stay in all but one word: fantastic.

By all means this isn't the newest hotel on the street, and the most jaw dropping, but this has probably the nicest and most courteous staff in any establishment I have ever seen, period. From the people that open doors, to the valet, to the concierge, to the front desk, to the housekeepers; they are definitely the best group of people I have ever seen at one place for one time.

We stayed in a king suite, and it was amazing, all except for the shower, it was POSSESSED! But they fixed that for us.

Also, they took my wife's night gown by accident with the linens, but the linen company they were associated with cleaned it, returned it to them, and they shipped it right back to us in Toronto.

I would like to live at the Sutton Place Vancouver, would definitely go for another visit, hopefully sometime in the summer!

My best friend and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday weekend (we live in Seattle) and had a wonderful time.

Positives: Beautiful hotel, great service, very attractive rooms, and very good location. Conceirge was terrific in efficiently arranging and recommending dinner reservations around town. We also seemed to impress everyone when asked where we were staying and we replied "The Sutton". Apparently it has a reputation of prestige. They also provided a complimentary "birthday treat" in our room, complete with 5-6 specialty dessert samplings. Very nice touch.

Negatives: Only three.... no bell service promptly available to take our luggage cart up. After waiting about 10 mins we were anxious to get to our room and decided to manuever the cart ourselves. This was quite a feat in the narrow halls w/corners and strangely the cart was still in the hallway outside our room 2 days later so we re-used it to take our luggage back down.

Second negative: The view from our room was lovely if you didn't look down. There was an alley way below with views of numerous dumpsters with garbage strewn about. However, it did provide an interesting display of Vancouver's more "interesting persons."

Third negative: Internet service is not complimentary, but apparently this is very much the case in 99% of hotels in Vancouver.

We would stay here again without hesitation!

  • Liked — Beautiful hotel and rooms. Conceirge was terrific.
  • Disliked — Internet access is approx. $13 per day.

We stayed here 5 days over Christmas and had a wonderful time. We had an apartment like suite with a kitchen and big plasma TV and the room was clean and very comnfortable. The staff was very attentive and helpful, the roomservice great, fast and efficient and overall had no complaints at all. Hotel also has a very convenient parking under the hotel so parking was no issue either.

Good place to stay with kids.

After searching trip advisor for the best hotel for my husband, son and I..we picked The Sutton Hotel. We were visiting for 5 days from New York this past August. I had picked this hotel based on the fact it was close to everything and that it had the famous chocolate buffet. We arrived in the middle of the night from a late night flight..the staff could not have been nicer. They upgraded us to a 1 bedroom apartment on the residential side of the hotel! Wow!! With a balcony, 2 flat screen TV's, a great sound system, a full kitchen with a dining room and what more could we want. I'm very picky and I was delighted! This hotel has an indoor pool and a gym. They are ok..but we weren't there to swim or workout!! The spa...wow. I hadn't planned prior to having any spa treatments...but I suggest that it should be taken there! Food was excellent. We were out all day, but we got breakfast around the corner in the supermarket. Fresh rolls, bagels, coffee...we brought back the the apartment with some yogurts.

The hotel allows pets if you have one to bring with you. It was an upscale relaxed hotel that offered luxury, style and class. Right in the heart of everything. It's a hotel that I felt good walking into! They even give you cookies all wraped up when you leave as a gift...what a nice touch. The hotel was charming!

  • Liked — Cleanlliness and location of hotel
  • Disliked — prices were high in dining room for all meals

We stayed in the Residence portion over a very snowy weekend. The accomodations were very comfortable and up to date. There is a super market right across the street and a wine shop next door - with the full kitchen we did up our own breakfast every day and enjoyed a late afternoon glass of wine and snack. The location could not be more convenient - a block off of Robson, close to the Pacific Center, a short walk to the ferry to Granville Island, on the bus routes - we were so centrally located that the bad weather didn't put a dent in the trip. All in all a great experience and wonderful relaxing long weekend. The only downer was a glitch in our reservation - booked on their website and the rate charged was much higher then the confirmed rate. They fixed this very quickly and graciously - but check - the check in paperwork didn't show the rate!

Everything went well until we got to the room. As we got there late in the evening, we were planning on heading to bed. First problem: no sheets/pillows for the fold out and the added pillows requested with our reservation weren't there either. As we waited for our bedding, my wife decided to shower and found that we only had (1) bath towel - another call to the front desk. Finally ready for bed and, as we like to sleep cold, we turned down the Heat. At 1am, it was still 75 degrees in the room so we opened a window - allowing all the wonderful siren noise (4 different occasions during the night) into the room. 77 degrees when I got up. After 3 trips by maintenance for the Heat, to no avail, and 1 trip to "fix" the t.v. remote, we we're ready to go home. Not all was bad (the concierge was great as were the front desk and doorman/valet), but for the price we paid it was very disappointing. They have offered us a free upgrade on our next stay, however.
