Owner description: A bustling community started by Chinese immigrant laborers in the 1880s, Chinatown today is vibrant and full of exotic sights, sounds and smells.

After seeing Victoria's Chinatown (fantastic vibe, food, people) I was excited to check out Vancouver's. There were a few shops selling fresh fish (literally 2-3 and we walked several blocks), but too many boarded up buildings. Sad and confusing. We were told to go to Richmond.

Keep well away from China Town and Hasting street, full of down and outs and prostitutes, if you like to see a nice China Town head to Richmond,

After visiting "GUS", the next neighborhood we decided continuing walking.
What we saw was a dirty streets, strange people and in a square, many of drugs persons. And it was just 3 in the afternoon.

We make a point of going to every Chinatown where we travel (and we travel alot) this place scared the hell out of us. It is dirty, full of drug addicts and prostitutes, and people were literaly fighting in the streets......couldnt wait to get out of there..DONT TAKE KIDS

There were a few nice places, I liked the chinese garden. But it did not have the allure as "china town" in London or Amsterdam. There are also man bums on the street.
