Canada Place is a free attraction along the coast, where cruise ships leave from. There is also a convention centre there. There were a number of public displays there celebrating success stories and they just added a display on the 1812 war which was interesting.
The latest attraction is a 4-D simulator called FlyOver Canada. It cost $20, and the whole thing lasts 30mins, with the 4D bit going for 9 mins. It beats ANY helicopter ride and costs a lot less. Do this if it is the only thing you do at Canada Place and it will be worth the visit. Go early or late in the day (8-9pm in summer) when queues are shorter.
