“Impressive Architecture and Programs too”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

Just to see the coliseum style architecture was worth the walk for us. We liked how there was a corresponding business building curved around it in a semi-circle. Mostly food vendors. We were disappointed that the rooftop green space is not open yet, but may be in the future.

We attended a program about the International Flamenco Festival which we enjoyed so much, we bought tickets to another performance at the Vancouver Playhouse.

On the top floor, there is space for special exhibits. The one we saw included books, drawings, ceramics with wildflowers, wildlife.

“Not your usual library”

The building is very unique. Go in and see how it is in a shopping area. The library is many floors high. Good place to take 5.

“A must see when in Vancouver”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

Just about every movie or television production uses this awesome building. The TV show Fringe uses it al lot! The architectural design is breathtaking as you look up to high vaulted ceilings way above what is more of a covered street walk way. Tons of local little shops and lots of tables to enjoy a coffee. The library itself is a technical marvel, spacious with many floors. Thestaff are your typical government employee dullards who have no inkling or understand or how to smile or offer customer service. Parking is difficult to find and expensive. I prefer to troll the local surrounding streets for metered parking. Fan out from the VPL and find lots of fun local retail shops and beware of pick pocketers that do frequent this area.

“Look alike to Rome's Colliseum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

Our Downtown main library is a beautiful piece of modern architecture with a Roman style. Don't just take pictures from the outside, but go inside the library to see the curves of this building. It's free!

“A Little Bit of Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

Step back and enjoy the references to the Roman Colliseum, wander around the plaza to take in the installation art and then step inside the mall and enjoy a food court stop, imagining you are somewhere in urban Italy. I really like the sushi restaurant on the south plaza.
