Owner description: This bridge looks beautiful when it's lit up at night, a monument to Vancouver's cosmopolitan romance and sophistication.

Lionsgate Bridge connects downtown Vancouver with West Vancouver and North Vancouver. It offers marvellous views towards downtown Vancouver, Burrard Inlet, Stanley Park, West Vancouver and North Vancouver. It is always very busy on the bridge, but there are also designated pedestrian and bicycle lanes, so you can go and take pictures of the lovely panoramas from there.

I love the visual appeal of the bridge, but oh my, you never know how long it'll take to cross, depending on traffic, weather, season, events, marathons, demonstrations, the dreaded but inevitable accidents, etc. Wouldnt it be absolutely amazing if drivers could be discouraged from using the centre lane except to pass... how that would speed things up for everyone (proven for years in the Maritimes!!!). Hmmm, one can only dream...

Like most main throughfares in Vanc can be a challenge - Lions Gate is the easiest route to the British Properties- access to the upper levels to Horseshoe Bay and/or sea to sky s/b on any visitors agenda

This is one of the two major links to the North Shore of Vancouver. Lights were added so that it now twinkles every night. While only three lanes it seems to work for the locals. You will want to be sure to pay attention to the lights though...sometimes its two lanes heading north ....and sometimes two of the three lanes are open heading south. A Vancouver land mark.

This bridge is an enduring landmark of beautiful Vancouver and it's harbour. Was built in the thirties and it's official name is the First Narrows Bridge but none of us locals call it that. It's simply the "Lion's Gate". Lit up at night is gorgeous against the rest of the twinkling lights of the city and the north shore. It was widened a few years ago but commuting on it can be a bit of a nightmare so if you are visiting...avoid using it at rush hour at all costs. People love to walk and bike across it and it spills into the beautiful and equally iconic Stanley Park on the south side or into North and West Van on the other side. Lion's Gate is a love/hate relationship with the locals but since I don't have to commute on it...I couldn't imagine my city without it!
