“runs stanley park to Park Royal /West Vanc /north shore”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Like most main throughfares in Vanc can be a challenge - Lions Gate is the easiest route to the British Properties- access to the upper levels to Horseshoe Bay and/or sea to sky s/b on any visitors agenda

“Beautiful Bridge built in the early 1900s.”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

This is one of the two major links to the North Shore of Vancouver. Lights were added so that it now twinkles every night. While only three lanes it seems to work for the locals. You will want to be sure to pay attention to the lights though...sometimes its two lanes heading north ....and sometimes two of the three lanes are open heading south. A Vancouver land mark.

“One word: Iconic”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

This bridge is an enduring landmark of beautiful Vancouver and it's harbour. Was built in the thirties and it's official name is the First Narrows Bridge but none of us locals call it that. It's simply the "Lion's Gate". Lit up at night is gorgeous against the rest of the twinkling lights of the city and the north shore. It was widened a few years ago but commuting on it can be a bit of a nightmare so if you are visiting...avoid using it at rush hour at all costs. People love to walk and bike across it and it spills into the beautiful and equally iconic Stanley Park on the south side or into North and West Van on the other side. Lion's Gate is a love/hate relationship with the locals but since I don't have to commute on it...I couldn't imagine my city without it!

“Needs to be widened, or need another next to it.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Unbelievable useless mutable lane, needs expansion 20 years ago. This is a living breathing testament to poor planning. Pretty - yes. I have waited over 45 minutes for the four lanes from the North Shore (West Van and North Van) plus busses (priority) to merge. It's a great place to sleep, though, since you won't be moving any time soon.
