“Bags stolen from room. Be careful anyone can enter hotel on room levels.”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

I stayed July 14 and 15 with my son and ex wife in the room next door. I had work and a Dr appointment for my son. I turned the lock to keep the door open so my son could go between rooms freely. We always did this on hockey trips and never thought anything of it. My son and I left the room for less than 5 minutes to see I there was a pool. In that time someone entered the room next to ours and asked for "terry". My ex wife responded "sorry wrong room ". Never thought anything about it. Until of course I couldn't find my bag. Security confirmed on closed circuit tv that this guy was in and out of the hotel in 11 minutes with my bag. Yes I realize I should have not left my door open. Usually you need a fob to activate the elevator but not here. Security was great. The Vancouver police were great. But my bag laptop clothes shoes are all gone. I usually stay at the Fairmont but thought we would try the pan pacific. They did offer us free breakfast but this really rattled our sense of security. Anyone can walk in off the street and get access to the rooms. I should have locked the door as mentioned but never would have suspected this in a hundred years. Don't assume people are guests , lock your doors and watch your bags at all times. I only travel 4-5 times a year for work but would think twice about details like fobs in elevators in the future.

Although such incidents are rare, we were very disappointed and concerned with your loss and the impact on the enjoyment of your stay.

We do endeavour to maintain the security and safety of our guests including, but not limited to, closed circuit cameras, on site Security Associates, a key card system and limited evening access to guest floors. As in most major international cities, there is an element of the population who look for opportunities and can sometimes find alternate ways to access guest areas, despite our efforts. It is unfortunate, that in this particular case, they were able to take advantage of the open door.

We appreciate your comments regarding the high quality of response by our onsite security team and the Vancouver Police and your advice to readers regarding personal travel security regardless of the city or level of property.

We regret that what should have been a wonderful, relaxing experience, was diminished by this unfortunate event.

We stayed two nights pre cruise and thought the hotel was nice. The proximity to the cruise terminal can't be beat and the harbour view is breathe taking. The downside is that the hotel decor is very dated and definitely needs an uplift. Especially the bathroom. Would we stay there again? Probably not as there are other nice hotels close to the terminal that are cheaper.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor.

We were pleased that you enjoyed the views from your accommodation and found our service and facilities to your liking.

We appreciate all guest feedback, both positive and with suggested improvements, and have forwarded your comments to our Management team for their review.

As you also observed, our Canada Place location is ideal for cruise ship guests as we are located directly above the cruise terminal. This location also offers convenient access to attractions, services and shopping and hope you were able to take advantage of this and explore downtown.

We hope you will reconsider staying with us, should your travels bring you back to Vancouver.

We stayed one night pre and three post cruise. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A few minor issues that were quickly resolved by a more than accommodating staff.
Views are beautiful. Rooms are well kept. A fridge in the room would be helpful. Also loved the location.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on your recent pre and post cruise stays at the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We were very pleased that you enjoyed your stay - in particular the views from your accommodation and our waterfront location at Canada Place. We are very fortunate with this central location as it provides guests with convenient access to attractions, services and public transit, while having the cruise ship terminal located in the same Canada Place complex.

We are delighted that our associates were able to assist you during your stay and we certainly hope we will have another opportunity to host you should your travels bring you back to Vancouver.

We stayed here on three separate occasions during June and July 14. We had a room on the Club Floor each time which has excellent views over the harbour (UK English!) and mountains. My wife liked the Club floor but I feel it was not worth the extra money, however, that said, the service was impeccable. At the end of one our visits here we embarked on an Alaskan cruise and it was here that the greatest benefit to staying at the Pan Pacific was its position high over the cruise terminal. Call the bell boy to take your bags away and the next time you see them is on board in your cabin. Brilliant! Good door men too.
All in all the hotel has all that you would expect from this class of accommodation with large comfortable beds to die for. An added bonus for us was the grandstand viewing of the Canada Day fireworks provided by the lobby bar and terrace.

Room Tip: The city view rooms are cheaper but pay more for the jaw dropping views of the mountains and harbour...

It was a pleasure to read your review regarding your recent stays at the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We were delighted that you have enjoyed our Pacific Club services, amenities and, in particular, found our bedding selection comfortable. Your kind comments will be passed on to our Bell Services and our Pacific Club teams who will be very pleased their efforts have made a difference.

Our location at Canada Place allows us to provide our cruise ship guests with seamless shore to ship transfer of luggage and, on this particular date, wonderful viewing of the Canada Day fireworks show. We were pleased to you were able to enjoy both these benefits.

Should your travels bring you back to Vancouver, we do hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

This hotel is blessed with the very best harbour view in Vancouver.
Stay in a Club Room and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine in the 23rd floor lounge as you look out over the harbour and on towards the snow capped mountains.
Watch the sea planes take off and arrive, as well as the cruise ships on their way to and from Alaska.
The rooms are modern and the harbour or mountain views spectacular.
Aileen, Connor and co in the Pacific Club Concierge will see that you visit every place worth seeing during your visit.
Nothing is too much for the team.
The hotel has restaurants to cater for all, excuse the pun, from casual to the very best in the Five Sails, the iconic sight in Vancouver.
The Pan Pacific is with a short walking distance from Gas Town and Granville Street and all the tour coaches stop outside at Canada Place.
The hotel's position is just perfect if you are taking or coming off a cruise or just visiting Vancouver.
The hotel is also a pickup spot for the coaches going to Victoria on Vancouver Island.
The hotel and food are great, the staff very friendly and helpful and the location is just Vancouver at its best.

Room Tip: The club harbour view rooms are just right.

We stayed 2 nights before our Alaska cruise.

Great location, room was ordinary, certainly not worth what they charge.

The Pan Pacific really needs to get rid of the telephone in the toilet area and provide a shelf to put a smartphone or tablet. Decor definitely dated, beds comfortable, staff was pleasant enough, but we really didn't need them for much and they never offered, not even a "good morning" or "thank you".

I do not feel that the Pan Pacific is good value for the money spent and would not stay here again.

Like so many others we stayed one night on 7-3-14 before leaving for an Alaska cruise. We'd been to Vancouver for a week long stay 10 years ago and were happy to see the city again. There are several other hotels very near the cruise terminal but we have no regrets. Pre cruise package is a little pricey but included a beautiful upgraded corner room, late check out, buffet breakfast and delivery of luggage directly from our 19th floor room to the cruise ship. When you wake up in the morning look out the window and see your ship pulling into the harbor. All staff very friendly and helpful. When the bellman came to take our luggage to the ship I tried, repeatedly, to tip him the Canadian money I had left (about $4.50 Canadian). He refused to take anything, saying it was all included in the package. We'll be back to Canada at some point but I didn't feel like carrying the money around so at his suggestion we left it for the room attendant. We took the skytrain from the airport, very simple but we did exit out the wrong end of Waterfront Canada Place, so look at a map before you go and your walk will be a little shorter than ours. In the 24 hours we were in Vancouver there were no less than 3 times people approached us and asked if we needed any help finding where we wanted to go. Fantastic city, even if were did stick out like tourists!
