Treated ourselves on the last night of our holiday to a night in the Pan Pacific. Got rooms with Harbour views and they really were spectacular, beds were huge and comfortable too. The pool area was also nice, with a terrace overlooking the harbour. It was quite expensive and I was glad that our deal included parking, internet and breakfast - I really hate lack of free internet and expensive hotel breakfasts. Breakfast was very good though. Overall, it was a good choice for us, but I did think that it was a bit impersonal, partly because it was part of a conference centre and lacked a bit of atmosphere, but I also felt the staff were not that friendly. Great location though - went for a run in Stanley Park in the morning and wandered into Gastown for a meal in the evening.

We had to queue to check in on both occasions that we stayed here. The first room we were given smelt of stale cigarette smoke so we asked to change rooms. The second was marginally better. There was no follow up call to see if the room was OK. The best thing about this hotel is the location, to call it a 5 star hotel is a bit much. It is a very busy hotel with little style or customer service that you would expect from a "5 star hotel".

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

We were pleased that you enjoyed our location on Vancouver's waterfront, but disappointed that our service and your accommodation did not meet your expectations. We have shared your comments with our Management Team so they may review with their respective teams. It is unfortunate that as a 100% non-smoking hotel, we are still experiencing occasions where guests choose to disrespect this mandate and smoke in their rooms, the residual effect of which is sometimes difficult for our housekeeping team to immediately eliminate in its entirety.

We do appreciate receiving our guests' comments, both positive and negative, as this confirms our successes or allows us to review and make changes when and where warranted.

We do hope that, should your travels bring you back to Vancouver, you will give us the opportunity to redeem our reputation and welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We thoroughly enjoyed our (albeit brief) stay at the Pan Pacific Vancouver. Perhaps the mood was aided by Canada Day celebrations, but irrespectively, we had nothing but great service from the bell hops, and reception staff. Pool was lovely, rooms clean and modern. Free Wi-Fi would have been a nice inclusion, though. Position is convenient to ships, Fly Over Canada (highly recommended) and there is a food hall directly underneath the hotel - recommend Tim Horton's for breakfast for those who are unfamiliar with Canadian fast food offerings. Very cheap for an Australian family of six !

From being extremly impressed with the Pan Pacific in Singapore, I was excited to be staying in the same chain in Vancouver. The location is perfect, with Stanley Park, Downtown, Gas Town all within a few blocks and there are beautiful views over the bay.

The room I was given is nice, great bed, great tv and the room has a city view which is not the best but still very nice. The bathroom is a bit tired looking but not the end of the world.

However I have found the service and food very questionable:

- When I checked in, the receptionist ignored me then took another person who just went around the rope barrier without queuing. My welcome when I was served was a bit frosty especially when I decided not to upgrade my room for another £30 a night.

- I had room service the first night I was here and ordered a fish medaly dish which was dreadful. Everything was battered (including the salmon) was tasteless and extremely expensive (£35) plus tray charge $5 plus 17% gratuity. I left most of it.

- I had breakfast in the hotel the first day, £25 for very mediocre food. Suggest you don't do breakfast in the hotel and go to http://www.scoozis.ca/

- Decided to go for a drink in the bar, went up to the guy and asked if it was bar or table service and he replied 'both'. I sat down and after 10 minutes of waiting, and no one even passing me to flag down, I had to go to the bar and get a drink.

I have obviously had a bad experience than others but I do expect more from this brand of hotel. If prices are high then I expect service to compliment it and on this occasion it didn't.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent stay.

It was a pleasure to read that you enjoyed our location on Vancouver's downtown waterfront and that your accommodation was comfortable.

We are generally very proud of the calibre of our associates and service, so were disappointed that the service at our front desk and food & beverage outlets did not meet your expectations. We always appreciate our guests' feedback and have forwarded your review to our Management to review with their teams. We have also passed your comments regarding your dining experiences to our Culinary team and, again, appreciate your feedback, as it is only by hearing our guests' comments that we are able to review and remediate any areas of concern regarding quality of service and product.

Should your travels bring you back to Vancouver, we would appreciate the opportunity to redeem our reputation and welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We booked Pan Pacific because of the convenience to the cruise ship. We arrived from AZ three days ahead of our cruise date. We wanted to tour Vancouver and Victoria before we left for Alaska. We were very happy with our room and location of the hotel. We took a sea plane to Victoria which was a short walking distance from the hotel. Our room was on the 20th floor which gave us a teriffic view of both water and land. The lights at night were amazing! Cafe Pacifica in the hotel was an ideal place for breakfast. I would recommend taking the Big Bus Hop- on Hop-off for a tour of Vancouver. It has two routes for places of interest and you can take both (for one price) at your leisure. They sell tickets for this right in front of the hotel. Considering how expensive tours can be, this was a real bargin. The only downside might have been the Pan Pacific upscale restaurant (Sails) upstairs. We decided it might be too gourmet for our taste. Loin of Venison, Confit Duck Breast etc..This left us with the Cafe Pacifica and fast food down stairs. We did visit some local restaurants close to the hotel which were great. All and all this was a thumbs up hotel stay. BEST location if you are taking a cruise from Vancouver!

Well we returned once again to the Pan Pacific Vancouver. Again another wonderful stay. Asked for specific higher floor and were given room(king size, harbor view) on the 18th floor. Just perfect. The staff were amazing. Food was good but pricey but its Vancouver, why would you expect anything else. The only downside was there as a function that basically took over the lounge area, both inside and out. Many tables reserved. That, in my opinion should not happen. As a paying guest I felt cheated that we ere unable to use that facility that afternoon/evening. Just a heads up. The Pan Pacific is attached to Canada house. Many cruise ships in port. There noise starts at 7 am and continues till they depart. 5 days stayed, 5 mornings awake at 7 am. All in all another wonderful time in Vancouver

Room Tip: Higher floor away from elevator. Stay away from 8th floor(pool entrance)

After 9 days of hotel and cruising it was great to get off our ship and fall into this sophisticated hotel and skip the cab lines! Rooms are generous, the robes "yummy", views even of town great.
All the tourist info you need is in the lobby. We made the most of our 16 hours in town thanks to the hotel. Beds really commfy too. Have to find a reason to come back!!
If you re getting on or leaving a cruise ship this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: Sure everyone thinks they need a harbor view but you don't. The night lights from this modern ci...
