We stayed at this wonderful hotel for two nights before our cruise. Friends picked us up at airport so arrived at the Pan Pacific several hours before the room was ready. This was not a problem as we were able to check in,leave our bags with a Bell Person, enjoy the afternoon on the wonderful walkway along waterfront, arrive back at the hotel to find our bags delivered to our room. This is SERVICE !!!! On the day we boarded the ship it was so convienent to take an elevator down to Canada Place, check-in & be on board in less than 20 minutes. We booked the hotel through CAA , definitely the way to go as we had a very reasonable rate for a hotel of this quality.

It was a pleasure to read on your Tripadvisor posting that you enjoyed your recent stay at the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We are pleased that our bell associates were able to take care of your luggage when you arrived earlier in the day so that you could enjoy the city.

We are also very fortunate that we share our location here at Canada Place with the Cruise Ship Terminal. This gives us the ability to offer our cruise ship guests seamless transfer of luggage from guestroom to ship.

We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver should your travels bring you back to Vancouver.

Stayed here for a convention at the Vancouver convention center. Connected to the convention center and cruise terminal. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeting and our baggage taken to our room. Upon check-in, the associate could not seem to get my name right after clarifying it many times as well as showing my printed reservation. She kept insisting that I had no reservation only she was looking under the wrong name. Weird. By far the best thing about this hotel is the views of the water. You can see sea planes, cruise ships, everything taking place. I am missing the views already. I watched the sunset from the hot tub on the eighth floor with this amazing background. Aside from this, much like any luxury hotel where the rooms are high and you get less. The rooms have minibars, charge for internet (sign up for GHA discovery program, this is complimentary if you do it or go to Starbucks downstairs), and no free breakfast. There is a great food court across the street which we took advantage of to cut down on food costs unless you like spending $19 on an omelet. The rooms are nice. Beds are so comfortable, you can stay in bed all day, and great pillows. This is a grand hotel with a lot of space and meeting rooms. Expect numerous events to be going on, and outside is busy with the cruise terminal. Stay elsewhere if you like quiet and less congestion. Enjoyed shopping at the boutiques within the hotel. I agree with others saying that the fitness area is completely out of the way, not the best location. The area is very walkable. Never had to use a cab except to and from the airport. Overall, I think the hotel is beautiful and we had a nice stay. Take a cab from the airport, the best tour in the city, cab drivers know everything, lol. Would stay again.

Thank you for your detailed posting on Tripadvisor.

We are very privileged with our waterfront location at Canada Place and it was a pleasure to read that you enjoyed our proximity to all the shopping, restaurants and other services within short walking distance from the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We were also delighted that you enjoyed the magnificent views of the harbour and North Shore Mountains and found our beds very comfortable. It was also a pleasure to note that you were able to enjoy some of the benefits of GHA membership, including complimentary internet.

Being connected to the Convention Centre and having numerous meeting and event facilities, the hotel is often a hub of activity. In the cruise ship season of May to October, there are often many tourists enjoying the views from our food and beverage outlets prior to embarking on their cruise.

We do hope to have the privilege to welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver should your travels bring you back to Vancouver.

We stayed between 2 Princess Cruises. When we got off the cruise there was a Bell Person waiting to take our luggage. He then showed us how to get to the registration. Since we were just off the cruise we were too early for check in. Registration took our information and told us to come back about 4pm. After a day of exploring Vancouver, we went to our room and our luggage was in the room waiting for us. The room was great, The room was huge with a couch, chair and a desk. The bathroom was beautiful with nice soaps. The bed was great and did not want to get up the next day. Great location at Canada Place. We walked off the cruise and walked to the next cruise. Great walking distance to Gas Town. The following morning we walked to Canada Place and looked at the next Princess Cruise ship. We would stay there again if we are in Vancouver again.

I spent a few days researching which Hotel in Vancouver I wanted to celebrate Our Anniversary and picked the Pan Pacific. I have no regrets, Even though this hotel is not lavishly decorated , I did not care, I had my Lavishly Decorated Woman, The View in room 2034 was fabulous, the location is perfect for strolling Gastown and Granville Streets. The Restaraunts have beautiful views however we chose the Cafe Pacifica and The Italian Opera Buffet :) Followed by a 11pm swim in the outdoor pool and Jacuzzi in the rain, made this one night one for the memories. The bedroom comfort gave us the best sleep in ages, Well worth the money for this Hotel.

In 2009 I gave the PP a middling TA review (Top Five but Certainly Not Number One). I've stayed there twice since and each time there is some improvement. It still has the small bathrooms for a luxury property and no gym, just a pool and hot tub, expensive room service, sound proofing isn't perfect and Internet is still an in-room extra, but service has been better each time I've stayed and room service this trip was excellent; food was also much improved. Windows that open were welcome. I was fortunate to have a west facing room with the PP's spectacular view across Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, the Lion's Gate Bridge and North Shore. Absolutely no venue can boast this stupendous view. If you're not part of a group the rates will be quite high though. I find the location perfect (for conferences and touristy stuff) but a mere three blocks away you could pay $100 less a night for another more-than-decent hotel. One thing to remark on though: The bed. Over the top perfect.

Room Tip: The best views are on the west side, but you are also over the pool and west Convention Centre resta...

It was a pleasure to read that you enjoy our location and views and find our services and facilities to your satisfaction. We are pleased to you have been able to take advantage of our pool and hot tub - while we do not have a fitness facility located by the pool, we do have a fitness centre located on the Cruise Ship level next door to the Spa Utopia Health & Wellness Centre. Hopefully, you will be able to enjoy both facilities on your next visit.

Again, we appreciate that you continue to select the Pan Pacific Vancouver for your stays in Vancouver and look forward to welcoming you back.

Stayed here for several nights, choosing this property based primarily on it's location. I can't overstate how convenient it is being well served for restaurants and entertainment. It is unrivaled in terms of being placed directly above the cruise ship terminal and the primary stop for the free shuttle buses that serve the main tourist attractions (Capilano Bridge, Grouse Mountain etc). It's also on the seawall route - so Stanley Park is a ample walk or easy bike ride away. The seaplane terminal, ferries and Gastown are all within a 10min walk too. It's also only 20min walk up to downtown. And finally, only 30mins by cab from the airport. Plus you can't beat watching the cruise ships drift slowly along side the hotel.

There are a few other hotels in this area - but not immediately on the water. Giving the PP the edge. However, for me this is where the advantage ends.

The actual hotel however is overall a little dated. You can enter via one of many doors under the convention centre, meaning access to the elevators is not monitored and for most of the day anyone could ride up to the room floors - there's no card swipe required. Although there is restricted access at night...it's still unusual in this day and age.
The general decor is lots of orangey wood and brass fittings. The elevators are some of the most antiquated I have ever used (doors opening before reaching the chosen floor). In the hallways the ceilings are low and have partially padded walls with weird useless furniture placed in alcoves (chaise lounge outside our room). Just dark and very '90s, at odds with the shiny white exterior.

We booked a city view room and this meant an amazing aspect up to downtown and with some effort across to Stanley Park. I'm sure the bay view rooms are doubly amazing...but as we spend little time staring out the window, it wasn't a priority.

Size wise the room was more than ample. With a full sitting area that we rarely used. The beds were extremely comfortable. Overall the room was serviced well - with some debris being left on the floor for a few days, proving it wasn't' vacuumed. Obligatory huge TV and Ipod dock were much used (despite the annoying LodgenetTV interface). Again, they charge for wifi at the PP. But having read a tip here on TA...I applied for GHA membership and this means the wifi is comp'd on check in. Otherwise it's $30 for one week for the 'lite version'.

The bathroom was the main disappointment though. Lots of wood and beige tiling...made worse by a equally beige shower curtain over the bath. What sort of high end hotel still persists with shower curtains? Yuk. Nothing worse than getting a wet, cold shower curtain stuck to your leg! The toilet was also positioned next to the bedroom wall - so any turn of the toilet tissue holder could be heard in the room... not exactly great.

We only ate in the lobby lounge once and it was pretty good, both service and food. The Pan Pacifica restaurant seemed hugely overpriced (also in the lobby) for a hotel eatery and the ultra upscale 'Five Sails' was not our type of place so didn't even bother. There really are plenty of options just around the corner.

Finally, the worst, most laughable aspect of the whole property was the 'Fitness Club'. This was a very small facility (for a big hotel) accessed via taking 2 separate elevators and short walk across the cruise ship terminal parking garage (classy). The equipment was limited but there are towels and bottled water. But it's made almost comical by allowing none residents to use the gym (with a PT) for classes. This means that there are several (on one occasion I encountered 5 clients with their PT) using the facilities, rotating around the room and there just isn't the space for it. Obviously they are paying for this...but it means that the place is congested and just not suited to it.

Overall...yes for the location but if you like the full experience in a contemporary setting, try elsewhere.

Thank you for taking time to post your detailed review on Tripadvisor.

We appreciate receiving feedback from our guests and have shared your comments with our Management Team and Associates for their review. We were pleased that you enjoyed your experience in our lounge and found our location convenient and the views from your accommodation amazing.

The Pan Pacific Vancouver is coming up to its 27th anniversary and we do have an ongoing commitment regarding maintaining and upgrading the facilities. Our classic birds eye maple wood is featured throughout the hotel, both in guestrooms and our public areas, adding an atmosphere of warmth.

It was good to read that you were able to take advantage of the privileges accorded to member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA Discovery) loyalty program.

We hope to have another opportunity to welcome you back to the Pan Pacific Vancouver should you travels bring you back to British Columbia.

You can't get any closer to the pier if you are planning on cruising out of Vancouver! The elevator takes you directly to the basement where you check in. What's really nice is that if you are booked at the hotel, you are allowed to check in and board the ship an hour earlier.
This hotel is superior quality! Service was great. Employees were very helpful in directing us to nice places to visit nearby. The "Old Town" district is within walking distance and many city tour buses stop nearby.
Our room had a view of the bay and we were very excited as watched out ship sail into the harbor in the morning. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are coming in early for your Alaskan Cruise!
