The rooms were very nice. We had a view of the harbor and loved watching the float planes take off and land. They can be a bit noisy early in the morning, but we got up early anyway to see the views of the mountains and take in some daily sight seeing. Very good location within easy walking distance of several excellent restaurants. Also close to the bus route so you can get around without renting a car. Very cheap bus rates. We took the bus out to the college to see the First Nation Museum which was fantasitic. Round trip was only $4 each. We were there during the anniversary of the Olympics so we got to see the celebrations and the lighting of the Olympic torch. What a treat. We would highlyi recommend staying here.

This was a very beautiful hotel in a superb location with gorgeous views. Walking distance to most sites. It is connected to the cruise port so a lot of cruisers obviously stay here and it is a huge property but that did not deter from it's charm. The staff was friendly enough but a little reserved as it seems they usually are in most high end hotels. Restaurants on site and many more nearby. The room was large, clean and comfortable but the view was the highlight. We enjoyed sitting by the window on the harbour with the hills across the way and the mountains in the background and watching the seaplanes come and go. We loved this hotel and the beautiful city of Vancouver.

For the wife's milestone birthday, she had said she wanted to see Vancouver. So I quietly arranged a trip. After pricing everything out separately, I checked Travelocity, and had several options for three nights of hotel, effectively for free! I finally decided to spend the money, and go for Pan Pacific, as I really wanted a room with a view. I ended up paying only about $100 a night for a Harbor View Room, normally more like $400/nt.

I really himmed and hawed about whether to get a "Harbor View" room, or, a "City View" room and hope for an free upgrade, as is often mentioned here. As I was prepaying, I figured I better hedge upward and got the Harbor View, whatever that meant. And that turned out to be the correct choice, as no upgrade. Maybe because of a Travelocity pre-purchase, maybe just no rooms available, I dunno.

What they don't make clear on the website, is what "City View" and "Harbor View" actually mean. After all the hotel is a wedge out on a pier, all the rooms are 8th floor or above, and you can see harbor and city from pretty much all the rooms. The difference is, I found out, the Harbor View rooms are on the west side, the City View rooms are on the east side. The ones facing west get to see the pretty Coal Harbor area, the Yacht Club, Stanley Park is only a mile or so away staring right back atcha, high rises condos and hotels all lit up in town, Capilano Bridge in the distance all lit up at night, and lots of water, with mountains in the distance. The view is just spectacular! The rooms that face east, "City View", you can still see the bay and lots of mountains in the distance, but you're looking down on the container docks, the rail yard, the SeaBus dock, and fewer high-rises in the city. So, Harbor View if you can afford it. The view from our room, out two 6'X6' windows, was just wonderful, by far the nicest view I have EVER had at a hotel room.

All the staff we met were very helpful and friendly. I actually stumped the Conceirge with a basic question about mass transit, which was a bit surprising. They do have a summary sheet with bus directions to most of the major tourist attractions, something one might want to call ahead for when making plans. The deck on the harbor side of the lobby is just great as well, never crowded, several stories up. and had most of it to ourselves most of the time, to just sit back and watch the world go by.

The LOCATION of the Pan Pacific is also wonderful if you are planning on sightseeing without a car. The Canada Line train runs direct from the airport to Canada Place, only a block or two to walk to get to the hotel, not five minutes. Most all the public buses and shuttle buses you might want to catch are within a block or two. And the SeaBus to go over to North Vancouver is right there. Walk out the hotel and right onto the Sea Wall for a beautiful walk over towards Coal Harbor and Stanley Park. Almost every other hotel is town is blocks from the waterfront. NONE can match the views of being high up, out on the pier.

The bed was excellent, and I'm picky. There is an underground shopping area connected directly to the hotel (and many other hotels, no doubt), that includes a decent inexpensive food court, with McDonalds, Tim Hortons, some Chinese, fresh fruit and bagels, pizza, etc.

Downsides, not much. They nickel and dime on Internet WiFi access ($2/hr, $6/day), which is just silly nowadays. Ditto for water in the room. I won't pay $37 for a basic breakfast buffet. And they don't have their own shuttle to go anywhere. So, walk a block or two and wait five minutes for the bus, on occasion. Still, the best mass transit access in the city, I would wager, being so close to Canada Place.

Absolutely, positively, we will stay here next time we are up that way. And we will be back, what a great city. My reviews of restaurants and attractions are also getting posted, if you want to see any details of those.

This hotel is in a prime location to walk to any district. It's more on the corporate side of things in its looks and functionality, but overall a good hotel. The views cannot be beat as it overlooks the Vancouver Harbor where the sea planes take off and land throughout the day. Plus you get the full mountain view!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1526 which was a great spot.

As such, our clientele is mixed with both the leisure and corporate travellers. We are pleased you enjoy the views and hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Vancouver and the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

We have stayed in 5 hotels in Canada and this was amongst the best. We ate in the 5 Sails restaurant it is not cheap but an unforgettable experience. Just one negative comment this was the only hotel we stayed at that did not give free wireless Internet access.

This is truly the best hotel in all of Vancouver. The views were incredible, the service was fantastic, the accessibility to various modes of transportation was the best, and the restaurant had exceptionally good food. We plan to return some time in the future.
