At 7:30 AM The Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver was crowded, well "jammed". The last eastbound train of the season had thirty (30) passenger cars. My two daughters, their husbands and I milled about in anticipation when suddenly the bagpipes came alive, the sound waking up those who dared to dose, the doors opened and we were on our way to our assigned coach. There are three classes of service, Gold Leaf, Silver Leaf and Red Leaf (in airline terminology: First, Business and Economy class). We travelled Gold Leaf. We were spoiled, there is no other word to describe the outstanding service provided by Helen and her crew. Comfortable seats in our dome car, first class dining one level below, an open bar and commentary (look, a moose). Our car had an international flavour, I had lunch with three ladies, a Brit, an Aussie and a Kiwi. We all agreed that this was a spectacular adventure, grand scenery and incredible service. Gold Leaf service is more expensive but worth every cent..
