On our last visit to Vancouver we took the bus and ferry to Victoria, on Vancouver Island. The trip was enjoyable but took 4 hours, so we said if ever we visited Vancouver and Victoria again we would take the 35 minute sea plane. Our hotels in both cities overlooked the harbours. It cost a bit more than the coach and ferry but WOW what an experience and memory. How about taking off on water flying at 1000 feet over the water and islands and landing in Victoria harbour. We flew by Harbour Air, I can recomend it.

Took the 30 minute flight around the harbour, take off up and over Lions Gate Bridge and up to Horseshoe Bay, then back through English Bay and back into the harbour. Great views, and an experience. Had the pleasure of accompanying the pilot up front, and the view from the co pilots seat was spectacular. Rest of the family very jealous.
For half an hours entertainment is may seem a bit pricey, but you do only live once and when in Vancouver, there's no better place to enjoy the spectacle. It may just be another mode of transport, but boy its well worth the trip.

Liked the concept and thrill of going up in a water plane. We took the 20 min tour which is a 30 min flight. I think the 10 min tour would have sufficed. Didn't like that there was no conversation between pilot and audience. We were only given a brief overview before flying but never told, "hey, look to your right to see __".

Dear hobey1kanobee ,
Thank you for your review. Due to the high traffic and busy radio channels, it is challenging for pilots to offer a commentary. As a result, Harbour Air provides a map of Vancouver and its major landmarks for our guests to spot. We are also in the process of launching a new audio guide system for the summer, which I hope will enhance your experience next time you visit us.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

We took the 20 minute scenic flight and it was a great taster of Vancouver and the surrounding mountains. You don't get to go very far but worth it all the same.

Try to get a window seat for good pictures.

Our concierge at the Fairmont Waterfront (Katie) suggested the floatplane as a way to travel to Victoria from Vancouver for the day. We were going specifically to see the Butchart Gardens and this was all included in the cost. It was twice the cost of the ferry, but took much less time, and, oh, the views were fantastic. Fortunately for us, the day was gorgeous because I can see that it might not be as "pleasant" in rough weather. Anyway, lots of flight choices in either direction - and they let us change with no penalty - all very convenient to downtown and the waterfront. It's one of those things you need to do once in a lifetime...great adventure.
