Coast Coal Harbour Hotel by APA

Very comfortable stay at Coast Coal. We got a deal through hotwire, where it came up to about $156/ night after taxes. Which isn't too bad for a 4 star hotel in downtown Vancouver. The hotel has a modern touch and the customer service was excellent.

Positives:

- Great location; right by the water downtown

- Free WIFI

- There is a gym; as well as pool and hot tub

- Amazing customer service; EVERYONE was soo polite and helpful. One of the front desk staff was nice enough to give us free passes to Caprice nightclub

Negatives:

- Room is a bit on the small side; beds were small as well.

- Room service/ restaurant was ridiculously pricey imo

- No fridge in the room

- The room we were placed in had the most horrible view; right opposite an office building. We were literally looking at people at work. Not sure maybe this is because we booked through hotwire? and were given the crappy option!?

- You need a hotel room fob to use the elevators [Although some might see this as a positive for security reasons; I found it a bit inconvenient]

All in all Coast Coal is worth it if you can get a good price deal. But what really impressed me was their awesome customer service; and I would definitely stay there again for this reason.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a view that isn't opposite the office building.

We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay through Expedia, using the 'Surprise' booking feature, where you don't know the name of the hotel only the location and the stars in exchange for a special rate. It turned out a great deal. Nice boutique style hotel, centrally located, within walking distance from restaurants, shops, and attractions. The only call out: The parking garage is not for free when you are a guest and you need to pay extra, about 40usd per day. That we thought is not great. Also: Some of the staff at the front desk could be more friendly and more service minded. We did get great directions from the concierge and another female receptionist but the service needs to be consistently great for it to be a 5 star.

Booked this hotel as wanted to be close to waterfront. Only one street away which was good as not noisy at all. Was upgraded to a superior room on arrival and found it was a corner room. Very clean and decorated in a modern contemporary style. Air con worked a treat as was a sunny room but was not noisy. Loved the free toiletries especially the larger bottles such a nice treat. Showers worked wonderfully plenty force and hot water too. Bathroom was quite big compared to some hotels we've stayed in. Ate in the hotel restaurant (Prestons) on our first night as late arrivals. Food was excellent as was the service. Enjoyed the food so much we ate there again on our last night. Same great food again. Ate out at two other restaurants on other nights (Cin Cin and Black & Blue see reviews). Hotel staff were helpful when asked for directions etc. Hotel was only 5 min walk to Canada Place where the sightseeing buses stop and tourist info centre. Great being able to walk out hotel and along the seafront around whole of city. Also only 5-10 min walk to main shopping/eating street too so good location to be based. All in all a great 4 night stay and would stay there again if visiting Vancouver.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not next door to vending machines as guests were very loud late at night with no r...

This was our best hotel experience ever! The staff were great as was the room. The comp-limentary hot breakfast was great. We appreciated the appetizer from the restaurant the hotel staff made for us at a recommended restaurant on the harbor. The showers worked great. The rooms were clean and spacious. This si where we'll stay in the future!

Room Tip: 18th floor has 4 rooms with balcony. Get harbor view.

I booked and paid for through their website for a comfort room. I was pleasantly surprised on check-in to be given a free room upgrade with great views of Stanley Park and the harbour. The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. The location is fantastic. It is an easy walk to anywhere in Downtown Vancouver. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed overnight on Saturday night after arriving from Whistler on our way back to Las Vegas. We try to always stay at four + star hotels. Family of four w two teen boys. Was deciding between this hotel and Fairmont Waterfront. Glad we choose this hotel. Was upgraded to a superior room. Room was clean, modern and even though only double beds, super comfortable. Staff was pleasant, efficient and more than accommodating in helping w luggage, places to eat, and places of interest to visit. The location is not in a bustling area w shops and lots of restaurants, but everything is easy to walk to. Very safe to walk around and you can walk across the street to see the harbor. Only a $ 7 cab ride to Stanley Park Aquarium and $ 26 to airport w traffic. Would highly recommend.

Very nice hotel in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The service was excellent. Close to shopping and site seeing and the ocean is right there. Be careful where you walk along Hastings Street, before you know it, you will be in the East side of Vancouver. I saw things I've never seen before in that area.
