“"Suite" Deal”
Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

We needed a suite for 3 adults and a teen while spending 3 days in Vancouver. When we arrived at the English Bay Inn I was a little put off by the blandness of the lobby and room but quickly changed my mind when we opened the curtains in our corner suite Room 323 for the amazing view of English Bay. The suites are former apartments - two beds were in the "living room" and a queen was in a separate bedroom. There was a kitchen and underground parking for $10/day. Yes, this place could use a facelift but then the price would not be the bargain it is. Location is perfect - close to Stanley Park, shopping, and amazing ethnic dining options in this walkable city.

We had 3 nights in July air con would have been well received. Apart from that very good value In an over priced city needs a lick of paint and an up date but don't forget how much you are paying. The staff are fantastic. They booked us taxis gave travel advice etc much more than you would expect in this class of hotel. So if your on a budget or hate to part with your money this is the place for you after all how much time do you spend in your room we had 3beds a tv kitchen bath shower and a view. All at a fraction of the cost of the big hotels down the road. When you come out of the hotel you feel the city you are near small shops cafe,s with life. Would I use it again yes

Loved the location.
The hotel isn't luxureus, but to spend your holiday basically on the English Bay Beach for that money is amazing.

The staff was really helpful when we wanted to come back, after a bad experience elsewhere in Vancouver.

I definitely will be coming back, when I'm in Vancouver again.

I stayed at the English Bay Hotel in September, and found it to be clean, safe & quiet. My room faced the street with a view of English Bay. It could use a fresh coat of paint & some new curtains, but it was perfect for my needs. The bed was comfy with lots of soft pillows & warm blankets. The bathroom was clean with endless hot water & piles of clean fresh towels every day. There was a small fully funtional kitchen including fridge, microwave, stove, pots, pans, cutlery, dishes, etc. Included was decent cable & free wireless internet. Laundry room was off the lobby & was $1.25 (I think) per wash & dry.Every morning, i walked 2 minutes to the Starbucks, grabbed a coffee, crossed the street & sat on the beach. Almost anywhere downtown is 10 minutes away by bus. The hotel is on the edge of Stanley Park, and all the tours buses stop close by. The Boathouse Restaurant is also just a block away. A 10 minute walk away along is the False Creek Ferry stop (behind the Aquatic Centre) which is a 5 minute ferry ride over to Granville Island. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Vancouver.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of English Bay - you'll have a view of both the ocean & the mount...

We booked online for this hotel for 2 nights before heading off for our cruise. The receptionist was kind enough to let us put our suitcases in the reception room when we flew in that morning at 07.30hr. We have to sit around the nearby coffee shop till we checked in at 10.30hr.The first impression when you get out from the lift to the room was OMG ! The whole place looked run down and outdated. The corridor was dilapidated and the door to the room doesn't look secure at all. Shocking carpet that you don't know whether any hidden bugs around that we have to put our suitcases on top of the chairs. Very basic ? 60's furniture . Kitchen clean enough for cooking and a kettle for making your cups of tea. Our room was facing the other units so can hear the neighbourhood especially people getting out of the garage.Lucky the bed was clean enough to sleep on it. The location is good , walking distance to stanley park .Lots of restaurants along the main street and Starbuck just around the corner for breakfast. There is a supermarket nearby along the main street. Free internet access from the computer at the reception area. Reasonable rate

This hotel is in a great location and really handy having a kitchen and fridge, meaning you don't have to eat out every meal. It was pretty quiet even friday and sat night but our room was not facing out onto the street.

Basic but clean. A lot of other hotels in this price bracket seem to have shared bathrooms so I think it is good value for money.

If you are looking for fancy loby, spa etc..this hotel is not for you. If you're looking for large rooms, older but very clean, including kitchen, in great location - go to this hotel, PROVIDED you can get aroom that is NOT facing the busy/noisy Denman Street.
