“Fantastic fish with a choice of local!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

I went here based on the recommendation of my hotel and boy was it awesome. The fish was fresh, tasty and, well, pretty awesome. There sake menu is also quite incredible. They have a fresh, wild local tuna and salmon option which I had two orders of - quite delicious!

“Great all around”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

This place was a pleasant surprise during our Vancouver trip, as we tried it because it was near our hotel one evening. A great experience overall, good food, service, and atmosphere. Very good selection of sushi, shashimi, and sake. We all tried different dishes and all were nice and pretty authentic as well.

“Not a place to try....”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I went to that restaurant to try really interesting japanese flavours. If you never tried good japanese sushis, you'll probably like this place. But when you're looking for something different and tasty, I would not reccomand that restaurant. I got a sushi roll that tasted only cream cheese and another one on which I choked on the shell of a soft shell crab... They are a bit too fast on asking you what you want... Can I please have a look to the menu before 3 different waiters ask me what I want?

“Great sushi”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We were in Vancouver for a few days and in the mood for sushi. Reserved online and were seated right when we got there. The place was busy all evening. It's fairly small, narrow and sometimes a bit unpleasantly loud.

Service is courteous and the food great (good sake, too). The vegetarian version of the Grandfather (?) roll was amazing with avocado, mango, creamcheese and more. Another roll had some tempura veggies on top, yummy.

“friendly and delicious”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Stumbled on Shuraku's by accident. Their Tuesday night Sapporo special ($3.75 for a pint) lured us in. Once in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. We sat at the sushi bar and promptly ordered our beers which came ice cold. Everything we ordered from the enchanted forest rolls, volcano, ling cod, beef asparagus, oysters, etc was artistically prepared, amazingly fresh and delightfully delicious. The oysters went 'on sale' for 1 dollar after 9 pm. The wait staff was very attentive. We would eat here again in a heartbeat.
