Description: We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly to sushi enhances the natural flavours and textures of the fish, creating a new and exciting culinary experience. Miku owner Seigo Nakamura innovated the Aburi concept by crafting specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to pair with each type of fish. The light sear from the binchotan (Japanese bamboo charcoal) caramelizes the sauce, releasing a smoky aroma and bringing out the finest flavours in each piece of Aburi sushi. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Fly Over Canada, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus.

“Impressive and unusual Jmodern Japanese”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

looking around at all the impressive clientele, you would be forgiven for thinking there were no problems in the world. A busy lunch time business scene, with hardly a table to be had. they are all right to select this place. The food was very interesting Japanese fare, with interesting fusion and spectacular presentation and the visual impact matched the excellent taste. Clearly using very fresh ingredients blended into mouth watering tastes. This kind of meal needs appreciating so next time I will go for dinner when there is no rush to get back to the office.

“Amazing food, but more of a business lunch/dinner place than a romantic day/night out”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

They are arguably the best Japanese restaurant in Vancouver, in my humble opinion. One of my favourite dishes is the Chirashi Tart they serve only during lunch; I believe this dish is among the most popular item on their menu.

However I must say, possibly due to the way the restaurant is interior-designed, it gets very busy and noisy at full-capacity. There is an outdoor patio which might be quieter, but definitely not useful during the wintery rainy weather conditions commonly seen in Vancouver.

“Inventive sushi in a fun, contemporary space”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

My wife and I loved our meal here, and had aburi-style (lightly seared) sushi for the first time. Everything was delicious. The restaurant itself is sleek, modern and colorful, and its also a lot of fun -- every time new guests would be seated, for example, the sushi chefs behind the counter would let our a cheer. Our waitress was very knowledgable and explained a number of items on the menu that were new to us.

“Great sushi”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

My boss and I went here and absolutely loved it. It's certainly pricey, but you're getting your money's worth here in terms of quality. Some of the best sushi we've had. I regret not getting the aburi, as my boss got it and was raving about the flavor combinations between the fish and the sauces.
