Description: Located in the chic Moda Hotel in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s arts and events district, Cibo Trattoria is the ideal destination for an enjoyable dining experience and memorable evening out in the city. True to the trattoria aspect of its name, Cibo’s 40 seat, cozy dining room is the perfect spot for any occasion or social gathering; where patrons enjoy casual, rustic Italian cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Cibo Trattoria serves up authentic Italian cuisine prepared in a traditional manner with ethically sourced, seasonal and local ingredients and showcases rustic elegance on each plate. Our ‘from-scratch’ approach in the kitchen works with Mother Nature and embraces the ‘Slow Food’ philosophy founded by Italian writer Carlo Petrini to showcase a simple, rustic elegance in each dish.

“Interesting menu but not cheap.”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

I went for dinner on Saturday and the restaurant was half full so it was not noisy. The waitress was helpful in explaining the menu. Without her explanation, we would not know what those dishes meant. Everyday, the menu would be revised to reflect what was fresh that day.

The menu was quite innovative. Some patrons might be offended by some of the ingredients, like pigs ear---but you would not have to order it. There were other items to order.

We ordered a number of bite size orders to share and they were all great.

We also shared the spaghetti, which was fresh and home made. That was excellent.

By the time you added up the costs for meal, you would realize that this restaurant could be expensive.

“Pricy”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

Limited menu selection, and the entree was disappointing. My husband loved his appetizer- Prociuto with mascarpone and kale, but he also thought the wait staff was pretty phony.

“Great option for a pre-show dinner”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Cibo Trattoria is well situated for a quick bite before going to the many entertainment venues around Granville Street. The Italian fare is quite good and they have an extensive wine list thanks to the attached Uva Wine Bar.

Their "fresh and local" menu (which they say changes nightly) contains a nice assortment of antipasti, small plates and also offers a prix fixé option. The only real negative is the noise level, it is a bit like dining in a lube shop; which is the only reason it didn't score higher with me.

“Worth going back to - again and again.”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Picked Cibo because it was close to the theater we were going to. I was pleasantly surprised that the menu offered a very large variety of antipasto tasting ranging from the usual to different bruschetta (NOT the usual tomato and onion), cheese plates and a variety of salamis.
Mostly, if not all organic and local and much food cooked slow-and-low. The menu changes about 20% daily.
I had veal carpaccio with tuna aoili and gnocci for dinner while my friend had slow braised short ribs with fingerling potatos done with onion. Both were incredible.
So incredible, I returned the very next night with my wife. She had ossoc bucco which was one of the best she has had. I had veal scaloppini with potato after a starter of salami. We both had bruschetta at the beginning - one with ragu, one with lentils. Both were superb.
My usual recommendation is "would I go back?"
Not only did I go back, I look forward to going back again...and again.

Superb service both nights with extremely knowledgeable waiters.
