Can’t say enough about how kind, fun, informative and wonderful the captain and naturalists/crew were.
Well-worth the price as included a round trip to Victoria.
We saw two distinct pods of Orcas on the way to Victoria. And, were fortunate to see a pod with a huge male on the way back to Vancouver!
In each case the naturalists in board id’d the matriarch and pod members. And, provided photos and detailed information about identifying marks, history of the pod etc. much more than we could have hoped for.
The medium sized catamaran had a comfortable indoor cabin with free hot drinks and snacks for purchase. And, very clean restrooms! We brought a picnic breakfast as departure was very early for the 11 hour trip! The boat has great viewing areas front, back and on top.
Had enough time in Victoria for lunch at the Empress Hotel and an hours walk at beautiful, fragrant Butchart Gardens.
Then that leisurely trip back.
The naturalist/crew are graduate level and very devoted to the protection of the whales. Incredibly knowledgeable.
Highly recommend!

Thank you also for your great feedback about our staff. They are very passionate about sharing their knowledge with our guests and certainly have a wealth of information when it comes to whale and marine wildlife!

The Butchart Gardens is certainly very beautiful to see and many of our guests enjoy the combination of whale watching and a visit to the gardens.

We woke up excited for the adventure, but over 2 hours in we still hadn’t seen anything. So basically a boat ride. Then just about after the 3rd hour we came across a humpback whale way in the distance, the boat tried to pull closer, but we never really got that close. We stayed out for about an hour trying to get a closer eye on the humpback, but it was just to far and elusive. I think it came out and showed us its tail twice (from afar). So almost 5 hours out of our life sitting on a boat - and I still don’t feel like I saw a whale - just something floating in the distance.

We thought we would see multiple whales - that the tour would try and find multiple spots for whales. But, I guess that is not the case. Once they find even just one in any vicinity, they stop and try to milk it. Then they just end the tour.

I understand they cannot control wildlife, but it was just a bummer for us.

Hello,

We are very sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Every tour is unique in terms of what wildlife we observe and how much of the whales we see. Distance regulations do apply when it comes to whale watching and we take these regulations very seriously as not to influence the behavior of the marine animals in any way. We want to respect the fact that these are wild animals and we will remain impartial observers.

As mentioned, every tour is unique and BC is a world renowned location for whale watching offering beautiful scenery and a variety of wildlife. The priority of our staff and crew is always to ensure our guests receive a comfortable, educational and enjoyable adventure with us.

Great ride and the crew were very friendly, attentive and most importantly knowledgeable. Any questions you have regarding the geography of the Vancouver seas or the wildlife will be addressed satisfactorily.
We couldn’t see the whales at a close range due to distance restrictions imposed by the Canadian government and rightly so. All in all, a wonderful experience

Hello Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a glowing review. We really appreciate it and are so happy to hear that you had a great time on your adventure with us.

You are correct that distance regulations do apply and currently, it is federally mandated that vessels must stay at a distance of 400m from killer whales which has been in effect since June 1st 2019. As we are part of the Pacific Whale Watching Association, we are permitted to watch the Bigg`s (transient) whales at a distance of 200 metres.

Thank you for your feedback and we can’t wait to have you join us on another tour the next time you are in Vancouver!

Wow what a special day for our family. We went on the afternoon boat with the amazing Captain Aaron and perfect Wilma who looked after us upstairs on the deck. You could not meet more passionate, caring and informative staff who went out of their way to help us and provide us with fascinating facts. We were so blessed to see many killer whales in a couple of different locations and will never forget the sounds and sights of those intelligent and breathtaking animals. I would recommend this trip to anyone to see a different side to Vancouver and for kids to learn about nature from people who clearly care and love their jobs. Thank you
