Just come back from a fantastic time of whale watching!! Wilma (the guide on upper deck! ) was full of information and stories and very knowledgable!!! I’m sure the the lower deck staff were just as good as they all came across as professional!! The safety information was well presented and unless you wasn’t listening you knew what to do in an emergency.
The sightings of a pod of Orcas couldn’t have been better !! Unfortunately I missed the male orca (T77?) who was away from the female group (with calves)!
The pilot (Aaron ) impressed me with his reaction to a leisure boat that was speeding right in front of a pod of whales which can scare them /hurt them and make them scatter !! He blew his horn but the silly person behind the wheel of the boat carried on !! Wilma said he could be fined !! I hope they get them but anyway if you are in Vancouver I sincerely recommend The Prince of Whales touring company

Thank you
Les and Tracy Robinson

Hello Les and Tracy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We really appreciate it and are so happy that you enjoyed your adventure with us! It sounds like you had a lovely time out on the water with the whales :)

Unfortunately, there are instances like this that happen and our goal is to educate as many people as possible on how to be whale wise and to take precaution as we share a home with these beautiful mammals.

We are glad to hear that you got the opportunity to learn a lot from our crew and we would be delighted to have you join us on another tour in future :)

Thanks so much to the crew for having us on board, I had two fantastic days on the water!

I was lucky to be on board twice as we didn't see whales on the first day. The sea was very rough and the journey to find the whales was quite adventurous and challenging. Although slightly disappointed that we didn't find whales, it was an amazing, fun and rocky journey with spectacular scenery. Wilma took very good care of all of us (No, I don't need a blanket, it's not very cold) and she had so much to tell about the nature during the tour.

The sea was much calmer the second day and we found the wales relatively easy. It was such a joy to see them swimming around and Wilma explained every single thing about the whales. Wilma is so passionate about her job, make sure you sit close to her. Wilma can talk about a lot things from orcas to mountains and from hiking trails to houses to James Bond :)

Thanks again for having us, a highly recommended trip!

We are glad that you decided to take another tour with us under our year-round whale sighting guarantee and that you got to see the whales this time :)

The crew (Aaron, James, Rebecca, Wilma) did a great job. We had a long and beautiful boat ride and were eventually rewarded watching 3 families of killer whales. The captain did a great job at positioning the boat and we saw the whales breaching, jumping, hitting the fluke, and popping their heads out for a good hour. The crew was very knowledgeable and friendly.

We found the information from this company misleading in several details. 1. We were informed that the trips would be whale watching both ways, ie that if we didn't see any whales from the boat, then the second part of the trip by seaplane would also be whale watching. However, the seaplane return journey was merely a regular taxi flight from Victoria to Vancouver, going as fast and high as possible. The plane was larger than we expected and someone else sat in our numbered seats so we had little or no view at all. Very disappointing.
2. We were told that the boats shared information so that everyone got a chance to see whales. This is obviously not so, as friends of ours booked on another trip 15 minutes behind ours, saw a whole pod of orcas for some time while our boat sped from possible sight spot to possible sight spot, remaining in each empty place for several minutes at a time, seeing nothing but a solitary male allegedly caught up with a crab pot. This almost seemed orchestrated. If the boats had shared info, our boat could easily have gone back to the pod which was presumably behind us and which would have been far better to see.
3. Nowhere in the information was it explained that the return flight would take us to the opposite side of Vancouver, leaving us with no travel directions as to how to return to the start point of the trip.
4. The actual start point address given on the brochure and website was completely wrong, so that some people, not having been able to download the last email from the company, ended up going to completely the wrong address.
5. We were told that we must be at the start point by 7.30 in order to check in or we would miss the trip. Actually, check-in took approx 5 minutes and we didn't need to be there until 8.00 at the earliest. No decent coffee shops or cafés were open at 7.30 which meant that most of us had had to miss breakfast and then had to stand around for an hour with nothing to eat or drink while the staff arrived on site and got themselves organised, checking in several different groups at the same time, all of whom had been told to arrive at the same time.

Having said all this, the staff on the boat itself were very pleasant, welcoming and informative.

This trip was a joint 60th birthday present for my husband and me and unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations, despite the large cost.

Hello Penelope,

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us as all customer feedback is very important to us.

It is possible to see a whale from the Seaplane but we would never promote the Seaplane experience as a ''whale watching portion'' of the tour. We are sorry to hear that you didn't have a good view from the Seaplane. Seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis but typically every seat gives a nice view for its passengers.

Yes, we share information, but tour times vary and this causes differences in the experience you receive relative to the company and departure time you choose.

The whale that you saw on our tour was a lone transient male T77A. He has a history and reputation of playing with crab and prawn traps which has made him a well known Orca. In this instance, he wasn't entangled or distressed but we do appreciate your concerns.

When a guest books a tour with us, an email with important information is automatically sent to the guest. This email outlines exact departure and arrival locations and does identify the return address at Harbour Air Vancouver 1055 Canada Place.

We do ask everyone to check in at 7:30am as we can have up to 180 guests that need to be checked in and sometimes this can take longer than anticipated.

We also did try to call you the day before your adventure to confirm the change in departure location, but we were only able to leave a voicemail and could not reach you directly.

We do appreciate your feedback in relation to our staff as they work very hard to ensure our guests receive a comfortable, educational and enjoyable adventure.
