“Hippo Snuffles!”
Reviewed August 24, 2012 via mobile

Just had a fantastic couple of nights stay at L'Hermitage. They fully deserve there position on TripAdvisor, the staff, from doormen, valet, check-in and breakfast servers, all were extremely helpfully and the happiest hotel workers I've met on all my travels. Plus a morning pat for Hippo, really sets you up for a great day. The location is also fantastic, gastown is an easy walk, and the bikes were excellent for taking a spin round Stanley park and the very swanky marinas. You will not be disappointed!

My husband and I recently spent four weeks holidaying in Canada, and Alaska. We travelled Golf-Leaf on the Canadian Pacific Mountaineer Railway, we stayed at the Vancouver Waterfront, Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, & Whistler 'Fairmonts' and other similar highly reputed hotels on our vacation, and enjoyed a verandah stateroom aboard the Holland American cruiser 'Volendam'.

NOTHING compares to the incredibly high standards set by 'L'Hermitage'.

We arrived in Vancouver three days prior to the commencement of our tour, and by comparison to the other accomodation and service we experienced were completely spoilt by 'L'Hermitage'.

From the moment we made our booking with the lovely receptionist named Jennifer, we knew were in for a memorable stay. 'L'Hermitage's', Jennifer was incredibly friendly, welcoming, helpful, and full of such good advice, and genuine thoughtfulness, that when we finally arrived, exhausted after two days travel from Australia we felt like we were visiting a dear friend. Albeit a friend with the most lavish, luxurious, comfortable, and welcoming accomodation. The other reception staff were similarly friendly and helpful.

Every conceivable comfort was provided; heavenly beds, ultra-fine linens, huge fluffy towels, powerful hair-dryers, snuggly robes, slippers, quality toiliteries, a fireplace, uncomplicated free WiFi, ample space for suitcases, generous well-lit workspaces, a big flat screen television, all provided amidst a spacious, elegantly stylish decor.

The breakfast restaurant and guest lounge were simply gorgeous, as was the delightful swimming pool and well equipped gym.

'L'Hermitage is located a short 3-5 minute walk to all the major Robson & Granville Street attractions.

I believe that 'L'Hermitage' is the best, most comfortable, most stylish, most welcoming place to stay in Vancouver, either for work or pleasure.

Cudous to the delightful Jennifer on the front desk for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: The boutique rooms with fireplaces are gorgeous. Rooms on the side of the hotel facing away from Ric...

We are a very well travelled family of 4 who rented a 1 bed suite in the Hermitage. We really liked the room and the hotel facilities were good. The thing that makes our stay stand out was the service. The difference between the Hermitage and your average 5 star hotel was the staff. This was best highlighted by the concierge who amongst other things was a leading member of a high end Vancouver food and wine society. This meant that rather than the typical experience of being sent to a restaurant that the concierge gets a kick back from or the usual set of tourist friendly joints, we were recommened great restaurants we would never have picked out ourselves which were all perfect in terms of quality, value and ambience. If you like boutique hotels and great service the Hermitage is well worth a try.

Room Tip: One small watch out is that there is construction work going on at the front of the hotel so go for...

L'Hermitage was a wonderful base for our two nights in Vancouver. Great for a shopping holiday as you're less than 500m away from the all the shops and main eateries. Furthermore what better way to start the day with a bit of exercise in either the well equipped gym and outdoor lap pool or even better head down towards Stanley Park and join the early morning joggers. The staff, the room and the location were excellent. However if you're looking at sleeping in (during the week) be aware that the noise from the construction site across the road will undoubtedly put an end to that.

Highly recommend the hotel to anyone. The staff were so helpful, and Raymond, the concierge had some fabulous restaurant recommendations. Location is central, you don't need a car. On arrival, greeted by friendly staff who expedited my check-in as it was quite late in the evening. I would go back there again, it offered me everything I wanted-and I had such a comfortable cozy bed.

We stayed one night at L'Hermitage on August 4, 2012. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and it was conveniently located.........the most important qualities in a hotel stay as far as I am concerned. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room had the nicest balcony area in any hotel I have experienced. When checking out we had a minor complaint about the noise of the air conditioning unit, more to give the staff a heads up that it might not be working efficiently, however as a result of this comment we were given a small discount for our stay.......not expected but appreciated. Clearly demonstrating the hotel's desire to leave a favourable impression.

The title of my review says it all. A magnificent hotel that felt more like luxury apartment living. And I mean LUXURY. The property is half apartments- half hotel, with separate elevators. When we arrived, the taxi had to park half-way down the block due to heavy traffic, but a very elegant man appeared out of nowhere to bring all of our luggage into the lobby. We arrived early and were warmly greeted by an extremely efficient person in reception and whisked to the fifth floor lounge to wait for our room. The lounge complete with fireplaces, flat screen TVs and wonderful couches was adjacent to L'Orangerie, the spot for breakfast. Shortly after, we were escorted to our room, directly across the hall. WOW. Certainly the largest and most glamorous hotel room I've ever been in (and we always stay in very good hotels). I said to my son, "this bathroom is almost the size of some hotel rooms we've had." Did I also mention the huge balcony, a fireplace, plenty of closets and drawers, a great espresso machine, a separate room for just the toilet, and more. The concierge, Raymond, was incredible, as was the other man in charge, (who's name I didn't get- shame on me). They handled everything, almost like we had a personal staff. In fact the entire staff of this hotel is in a class by itself. I can not say enough wonderful things about this property.

One note about the construction: It was a complete non-issue. After reading a few reviews concerning this before our trip,we were afraid that it would be a problem. It was not. Our balcony actually faced the work area and the noise did not wake or disturb us during our 4 days.

Don't hesitate to stay at this magnificent hotel.
