So, I don't know about others but at the end of trail hiking in drippy rain and driving along winding Tofino/Uceluelet roads, I wanted a place which was dark, with a faint background buzz of human voices and crackling sound of burning wood... I asked, and the Almighty delivered. And then the most correct sized, the metallic tasting oysters ever! With oysters, there is a stringent criteria: too fat and you are chewing them (I think I should stop) and too small, you never tasted them. And thank God, they didn't give me horseradish etc with it, rather on a bed of sea-salt and lemon juice... just perfect.
Entree was 'cortes island mussel & side stripe shrimp spaghetti', and it was beyond yum. I literally was scrapping the bottom of the plate.
The waitress was attentive and genuinely wished to please.
The best restaurants are where that make an effort to get you the right food and then leave you be. I almost always dine alone on my trips, and enjoying such good fare and staring away into the fire, this oddly detached but cozy ambiance was more than welcome.
