Description: Named Air Canada’s enRoute’s Best New Restaurant in Canada 2014, Wolf in the Fog captures the true spirit of Tofino. Chef Nick Nutting’s seasonal menu features seafood and fish in abundance from Tofino suppliers, meat and grain from Vancouver Island farmers, and wild greens and mushrooms foraged from the forests and seashores of Tofino. A focus on family-style gatherings, communal dining and share plates, encourages guests to engage with their food. Bringing a wealth of international technique and talent, the team holds a passion for the natural environment of Tofino and the produce sourced there – from foraging for chanterelles or cooking whole salmon for friends; Tofino is where they have chosen to be.

Good quality ingredients combined in interesting combinations that really worked, nice atmosphere on the deck and good service. Reasonably priced drinks menu.
Jamaican fried fish was a real winner, as were the oysters.

We had returned from a bear watch trip and there are not many dining options after 9pm in tofino so we tried this place which was still serving food. It was still very busy but we were lucky to get a couple of chairs at the bar. This appears to be a popular place with the young crowd. The drinks are pricey compared to the other places we visited. The menu is quite limited but we selected one of the sharing platters calked Block Party which included pulled pork, ribs and chicken. There was enough food for 2 people and everything was tasty. I am not sure it was worth the $45 price but it appears eating out in Tofino is quite pricey everywhere. We enjoyed the food and the relaxed atmosphere so would recommend it.

We travel to Tofino each summer to enjoy the weather and beaches. What a wonderful surprise his year to discover that David Hawksworth of Vancouver "Chef of the Year" fame had opened a casual restaurant in town. The room is bright and open , full of West Coast art and feel. The kind of ambience that one would feel comfortable either dressed up for a special occasion or casual and relaxed. They even have a small outdoor terrace overlooking the main street of the small town. Service was attentive. Food was delicious and beautifully presented displaying the influence of the Hawksworth hand. A wonderful addition to the dining scene for tourists and locals alike.

Dear omakase,

Thank you for your great review of Wolf in the Fog. While we are good friends of Chef Hawksworth, Wolf in the Fog runs independently of Hawksworth Restaurant. The talented Chef Nick Nutting and his team head up our kitchen! We appreciate your support and hope you can join us again soon.

Sincerely,
Jorge Barandiaran

Ok, so I heard about a new resto in Tofino that was up for the enRoute Best New Restaurant Awards, but the website was a little bland and the video of a bunch folks fishing for dinner didn't excite. Tried it anyway and wow! This place has really taken it up a notch, not surprising since a bunch of the staff are from the Wickaninnish. Amazing food, and stellar professional service, but still with a non-stuffy Tofino vibe. Apparently the chef's fave is the asian take on pork belly - OMG it shows. After sitting at the bar for a drink and watching the kitchen rock it, by delivering plate after mouth watering plate we wanted to try everything. The friendly barkeep kept us informed about what was what and we finally made our choices, but we want to go back and try more, and not just because it's in Tofino. Btw, regardless of what anyone there tells you, one person cannot get through the "Block Party" - look it up! Oh yeah, the decor is gorgeous too.
